iGuidance navi on XV6700

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I have the iGuidance installed (had the software anyway).
Guess I need an external antenna/reciever?........Why? The phone has GPS, there must be a way for any nav software to use the phones internal GPS?
Could someone explain please?

EDIT: If that's not possible, can anyone recommend a good (verified working) bluetooth antenna/reciever?

The 6700 has an A-GPS chipset, it needs to be assited by the service provider. Most PPC nav apps do not support it, and your provider must support it for it to work.

The HOLUX GPSlim 236 works great.

You can search the forums for more info try searching for GPS* to get around the 3 character search limit.

Also iGuidance doesn't work very well on Windows Mobile 5 unless you have the the patch which included WM5 fixs... I think it was v2.1.3 off the top of my head.

I looked around, and yes...seems like the GPSlim 236 is a winner.
I do have iGuidance installed with the patch....looks good.

Thanks

I have 3.0 iGuidance and so far it seems great with WM5 and the 6700.
As far as the GPS, I don't understand why people want bluetooth GPS'. First, your battery will drain pretty fast and second, won't it prevent using a bluetooth headset at the same time as the gps? When I'm in the car, I want my 6700 charging anyway so I might as well use a cable GPS and charge it that way. Then I don't have to worry about charging the GPS ever...

cheers

I use a GlobalSat BT-338 and iGuidance 3.0. The receiver has a 17-hour battery and I plug in the phone, so there's no problem with battery drain. And my BT headset works fine while I'm using the receiver. The only BT conflict I've seen is the inability to use BT GPS at the same time I'm using a BT mouse. But since I don't see why I'd ever want to use them at the same time, that's no problem. - sheureka

PS - A number of people have reported problems with the Holux receivers over on the gpspassion forums. You might want to check that out.

It's good that a bluetooth GPS can be used with a bluetooth headset.
Still, My point holds about your plugging in your PDA power anyway, Why not use a wired GPS to supply the power?
As for the GPS battery, Yes 17 hours is great but you still have to remember to charge it, and you will probably wan't a second car charger for it just in case.
I will say, there is one case where a bluetooth GPS makes sense to me. I have a class A motorhome and it would be nice to be able to use the mapping software from anywhere inside it without moving the gps. But I only do this a couple of times a year so it's not a big deal to me.

Have a good one

I have a generic BT 77 GPS, and it works great with IGuidance 3.0. I use two BT headsets (don't ask), and they both work independantly with the GPS running. My GPS lasts for over 20 hours non stop, so bluetooth is the way for me!

I just got my Holux GPSlim 236 the other day and after a bit of Internet searching finally got it working with my 6700. I use iGuidance 3.0 with it and sofar, it's working wonderfully.

How is that on the 6700?

I use it on a 7” touch and it seems small.

Works fine for me. Just need to get an appropriate mount to keep it in my line of site when driving though.
