Kyocera KX160b Flip opening and flat battery

I have a KX160b which is always flat. If I don't charge it each night it will not make it through the next day even with no calls.
I think that it's caused by the flip always turning on the screens and back lighting. On my phone it only opens one millimeter ( aprox 1/25th of an inch) to activate the lighting.
Some nokia, samsung and motoroala's I have looked at all open at least 18mm (aprox 3/4 of an inch) before they light up.
How far does your flips have to be opened before the lights come on?

Battry was charged overnight for the first time and do get 3 to 4 days life out of a charge IF I use a rubber band to keep the flip closed tight. (that's a real good look too)

yep, just discovered this problem the other day....
I've never seen a phone turn on its display within a milimeter of opening.
if you just hang it upside down and shake it, the display will come on. It totally milks the battery.
Its a very crappy problem. I can't use a phone guard because it makes the "bullet" have that much less contact with the "phone open/closed button". When I do use a phone card/belt holster, half the time my phone is lit up. My only best bet is to put a drop of glue on the "bullet" so that'll be a little bit longer.
but thats just plain ghetto.
Very crappy design.
This issue is recall worthy IMO.

I disabled the flip switch with sticky tape. Hey it was that or bin it.
I agree it should be a recall as it's a bad design fault.

Same problem. The little rubber pad becomes dented and just the slightest movement causes it to answer or light up. I have called kyocera a few times. They deny having any other complaints about this model. This is my second one that had exact same problem in less than three months use.
Complete crap phone for high volume usage. Probably ok for someone that rarely uses it.

Mine didn't even go one month. Sticky tape across the flip switch contact is still working, but of corse that means that the flip does not activate the phone. It's still annoying.
Kyocera have gotten several complaints from me, had the phone in to their service agent and still couldn't get them to accept that there is a problem.
These phones also have an over sensitive camera volume switch on the side. This means that the camera is constantly getting turned on which also zapps the battery. The other joy of this "sensitive" buttons is it turns the volume down to zero and hence you start missing calls.
Feel free to forward this thread to them if you want to. I would be interested to hear what they have to say.
