I always make sure to go in and chit chat with the company store people nationwide on my travels. For the posters who do not know I am a pure indirect seller of Cingular. I have been that way for two and 1/2 years now. I used to work directly for AT&T Wireless and then helped with the Cingular rollover in a few areas out west. I always go in and judge the direct store staff, I look to see how they treat their customers. I ask them some background type, and product knowledge questions so I can rate my direct competition. Call it personal secret shopping. I find more and more ex best buy drones or what I cal 3rd world sales people have landed up with jobs at Cingular. A few of these clueless gems had jobs at the store management level. I also notice a lot of nepotism too when it comes to these infected stores two in Minnesota, two in Las Vegas, 5 in LA County alone, and 4 in Fl orlando/south miami regions. I see people one day trying to sell me service plan , now pushing cingular phones they hardly understand. I think this trend is bad, anyone who works at best buy should never be in sales to start. I took down some notes from my last weeks trip in Las Vegas, NV at one of their bigger cingular stores there. - I walked in at noon may 27th, and I wanted to see the black v3's. A CSR who happened to be the manager showed me the displays, but he stops and tell me the v3 was a better deal at the local best buy. He gave me the name of a sales rep in their wireless department who could "give me a deal" since they could not beat the instant rebate price. My reaction to his offer was honest. I told him some people are willing to spend more for better customer service. I asked why would he send me to best buy when I was at a cingular store, he told me he used to be a manager there. I walked out and laughed at him.The look on his was priceless, like a deer in the headlights. How can a manager of a Cingular store directly tell me to go someplace else? So beware of the Best Buy infection growing on your markets. I am not anti-best buy I just think they have horrible sales people. |

Hopefully they can be molded into quality employees but management has a lot to do with that. |

If anything the stricter mystery shops might be cleaning out the herd. Those not making money in the new at&t probably don't deserve it anyway. There is hardly any "stuff" to know.

Yeah you will have those sales people that dont have a clue as to what they are doing, but heres the funny part. There are some people that work for cingular that couldnt sale a free phone to someone, even if that person wanted it. I left best buy because I wanted to start getting paid for all the things that I was selling. The cool thing about working there was that I just didnt sale for one company, I sold for Sprint, Cincinnati Bell, and Cingular. I like my job now cause I make money for the stuff that I sell. I think this guy needs to try and work for BB and we should all watch him and his buddies that think BB employees are an infection, get washed out of working there cause they cant hack it.
