Its not released yet. I just got back from the UK where SE has an office in the same building as my company and the SE employee I spoke to said official release is July in Europe.

I exist several Sony Ericsson P990, I have tried several of them (full of bugs), but it is inposible to buy them. It is someone t eBay, but they are illegal or just crap. I sent an e-mail to SE Developer and they said that nobody, exept from som few developers has got them. So you have to wait untill P990 is released...

P990a would have the 850 frequency, P990i as it is will be missing this frequency (not quad band) and most likely keep me from purchasing.

Is it really that hard to make a quad band phone?

I noticed that there are only a few SE phones that are quad band, and I'm guessing that it would open the p990 to a larger market if it had quad band. Thats just my 2 cents.

SE _may_ be releasing a P990a eventually (similar to the whole P910i ---> P910a issue)

Pg. 15 (Models) states there could be four basic models/variants of the phone: P990i, P990i with Chinese, P990c and finally P990a (with GSM 850 Mhz band).

There's no mention of EDGE, and the P990a isn't mentioned anywhere else in the white paper (all 98 pages). So it may be a mistake in the sense that the P990a was never intended or it may be a mistake in the sense that the P990a wasn't supposed to announced at this point in time.

P990a does not exist. If you live in the US, you have to use a P990i. Not that good, but SE don't make that many a-modells anymore

Which would suggest it will be released by the end of the year...though not likely picked up by any of the major carriers in North America without EDGE and 850 band.

Just the casing wont give you the feel of the phone... It would make you crave even more for it! BTW, is that CNN.cn legit for OEM parts?
