They're a BWA company. They use nationally branded phones, just like NMI Mobility.

while unable to confirm (i am kicking back and relaxing this week) I am fairly confident that TB tell is NOT part of the BWA.

there are roaming agreements for the phones to work mind you. dont have details on it atm.

They do have roaming agreements in place, but our store has learned through a customer's issue that National Bell to Bell calling does not work for receiving calls in Thunder Bay (sending is fine) resulting in a $1200 LD bill, and through a seperate episode with the MNR you can send and recieve calls with a Blackberry, and send email, but not receive email.

By the above issues I would say that they are NOT a member of the BWA

heya, from memory(distant) last i heard that any national calling feature, was only good for bell mobility territory, and if its working somwehre else consider it fortunate. that could have changed mind you.

Ok, so technically the BWA doesn't even exist anymore. Bell either owns, or doesn't own the old BWA companies.

That said, when I say BWA, I mean they use BWA phones (purchased from BDI), and they are cost-less roaming partners with Bell (minus the data of course). Naturally, your "Bell" service area features won't work.

On a related note, I noticed Telus has much bigger coverage in Northern Ontario than Bell. Does this mean Telus has different roaming agreements?

Coverage is probably the same--Bell is just terrible at updating their coverage maps....
