So, do you guys have any nice license plates? Either normal plates with really nice round numbers, or personalized plates?

My Dad has two personalized plates, one of them is on his own car and the other is just lying there waitng for a car. He has another car, and the license plate is normal, but the number is 55556.

So do you have an interesting plate? Or have seen some nice ones?

I don't have one... but I was wondering, how much does it typically cost to get one of those custom license plates? Hope someone in the US can answer since it's probably different in Canada...

Posted by: Koofteh

It's pretty miniscule in Canada, I think it's like $50 extra on your insurance a year. I say it's a good deal, especailly for expensive cars.

It makes it unique, and it makes other people stare at the *** of your for hours trying to read it.

in ontario we just have to pay a one-time fee (less than a hundred) for the personalized plates we can even have a cool@ss graphic on it

Posted by: Koofteh

So why don't a lot of people get them then? I mean it's only -$100, some people spend like $50 on air fresheners for their cars.

Shawn

PS: Here's a BC one.

actually, quite a lot of people have them personalized plates... i can't believe what people would put on their plates! for example: MMMBOP1, NYTRYDER, NEONRYDER, TYPE R (and it was on a tercel! lol!), etc etc...

i've been thinking about getting personalized plates, but the word or phrase tends to be easily remembered by those mischevious people... i'm trying to think up of a personalized plate letter/number combination that sounds good and not easily remembered

The best one I saw was on this big black Hummer H1, it was HMMMMR, I quite liked that one.

The one we have is really easy to remember, it's something like ROW.

wanna screw someone? call the police and bait out his plates and say something like you think you saw him flashing a gun, or beating his kids, or driving like he's drunk, or something

Posted by: Koofteh

And you couldn't do this with regular plates?

Just got mine in the mail today. I was the 45th person to get one. Just think years from now when the canes win the stanley cup and they have thousands made I will still be 0045

BTW: Please dont turn this into a hurricanes bashing thread, either PM me or start one in the lounge and I'll be happy to join in.

In alberta it's a one time charge of $100-150.
Then just regular fee every year.

The other downside for personalized plates
is that if the owner of this type of plate ever does
anything to piss someone off on the road or illegal, the
plate will be easily remember when filing out a police complaint.
Plus they can't be used on a commercial vehicle.
I'll take the generic plate.

My plate says IMNOT OJ. Can you guess what kind of car it is?

Answer: White Ford Bronco

I think in California is costs about $40 for a personalized plate.

Posted by: Koofteh

That's a smart plate eimajuno, very clever.

I just saw a red/burgundy coloured Lincoln Navigator with the license plate "Big Red", I thought that was good too.

ummm, that doesn't work. all you're doing is transposing the letters.

I believe it's a language that some people of the Philippines speak. I don't think it's the most-widely spoken though.

Correct me if I'm wrong Eddie, don't mean to be ignorant.
