Anyone know where to find the new manual on fcc.gov?

Isn't Tuesday when the confidentiality agreement is supposed to go bye-bye?

I wonder if that's automatic or if some tech dude has to manually post it.

Posted by: TmOcRaZy

NO, IM pretty sure its going to be automatically done (cross your fingers). Otherwise, then yeah, it will have to be searched.

Um, it's midnight in DC... : )

I see it on this list, but I don't know where to get the actual pdf.

Getting closer... they updated the page with the new docs but when you click on the PDF link it comes up with server error. Hopefully this will be fixed shortly.

Hmm no video it appears and no transfer via bluetooth

No Wi-Fi Either.

Here's an article
with the highlights and easy links to the PDFs

I hate to say this, but lack of video and wi-fi is a major bummer. Video is a basic feature on new phones. :|

There is some form on bluetooth transfering

Setting Up Your Device
Bluetooth® Technology Setup
Your device supports the Bluetooth wireless technology Specification 1.1 so
you can connect to hands-free devices (car and headset) and any device that
can receive a vCard via Bluetooth (PCs, phones).
To turn on Bluetooth features and open the Bluetooth settings, do the
following:
1 Press JUMP to open the Jump screen. Press MENU to open the menu,
then select Bluetooth. The submenu opens.
2 From this submenu you can do the following:
Pairing - Displays a list of available Bluetooth devices with which you can
pair.
My Device - Rename your device (as it appears to others) and select an
option requiring that others authenticate before connecting to your device.
For maximum privacy and security, make sure you select the Require
authentication check box.
Visibility and Bluetooth On/Off - Bluetooth features are “off” by default;
to select one of the visibility options, you must first Turn Bluetooth On
from the menu. Once Bluetooth features are on, select from: Always
Visible (if you are actively using Bluetooth devices), Visible for 60sec
(to exchange a vCard quickly), and Never Visible (prevents others from
sending you vCards or pairing with you).
Send My vCard - If you have set “My vCard” in the Address Book, you
can send your vCard quickly to another Bluetooth device by selecting this

there is really nothing new about the pics your not missing anything

So it looks like the initial offering of this device is going to be right on point with the Sidekick III Roadmap. If it holds true, we're looking at the end of the year for Wi-Fi, and 2007 for video capability? I don't know if the market will bear a device that doesn't have video w/ upload to youtube by the end of this year.

I personally could care less about video. I think its a gimmick that most people never use. The biggest thing the sk2 was missing was bluetooth when it was released. I remember it being criticized for not having bluetooth and sk2 did quite well. I really don't think not having video will hurt the sk3 at all.

what do you guys think about the bluetooth? think it will only allow u to transfer vcards and thats all?

Posted by: InsideInfo

i was looking at the roadmap as when they will send out OTAs but is it possible for wi-fi or uma to be sent over the air? and i highly doubt video can be activated through an OTA, wishful thinking i guess

I disagree with you. These are the same kids spending all day watching girls lip-sync Pixies songs on YouTube. With the ability to spread video clips easily via the web growing ever day, this feature is huge.

And on a smaller point, the resolution of the camera is weak as well.

If these components are built into the device already, then yes. I think once we get the product someone can break it down and we'll know right away if it is capable.

There are several references to "Bluetooth Headset or Hands-free" in the user manual so you'll be able to pair it to a Bluetooth headset.

As far as Bluetooth file transfer is concerned, that's limited by the Sidekick OS. It supports OBEX which allows file transfer but if the Sidekick OS doesn't allow you to send and receive other file types besides vcards, then you might be out of luck.

If it had 802.11 hardware in it, we'd see it in the FCC filing. You've got to remember that danger's customers aren't users, but service providers, and service providers sell... well, service. T-Mobile wants you to use their towers to use your SK, so I'm sure TMob made sure that WiFi wasn't built in.

What alternatives are out there that offer IM capabilities, video, wi-fi, bluetooth and some kind of roaming 3g network?
