i couldnt find if this question has been asked when i used the search engine it is,

is there a way to put the videos that you make on your computer with the USB cord it comes with?

Posted by: LeoDude

IF the videos are in the proper format and you place them in the Saved Videos folder on the memory card, it can play them.

what formatt do they have to be into??? and where do the videos get saved to anyway

Posted by: baker11

im pretty sure mpeg4...and the videos get saved to the saved video folder on the memory card as leodude has already said

No Baker, it will not read Mpeg4s that i could find.. You have to use a converter to change it into the format it takes to read which slips my mind right now.. I found the coverter on this site though so do a little searching and you should find it.. If not, ill try to look it up 2moro but its too late right now.

The phone plays .3gp and .3g2.

There are programs out there you can use to convert video into those formats, but none of them are free. WinXmedia allows you to convert up to 3 minutes free, but then it sticks a big green bar across the rest of the video.

So, if you want to watch a TV show on your phone, chop the show into 3 minute parts, convert them all, and watch them one at a time on your phone. Theres no fastforward or rewind option on the phone anyway so it would be hard to watch a video over 3 minutes.

oh my bad i thought someone on here had said mpeg4's...but why couldnt you just change the file extension like you can do with the ringtones?

Posted by: LeoDude

Nah, changing a file extension usually doesn't work. Changing a mp3/mid extension is one of the rare few that doesn't completely bugger-up by doing it. You can change mp4 and m4a to, but thats beause they're the same encoding.

See, a file extension is how a program recognizes a file. When the program sees .wma it knows to use the process to decode and play .wma files. Now, if you renamed an mp3 to a wma, the program would load the process to decode wma which wouldn't match up to the way mp3 is encoded. Since it doesn't match up, it will either not play or be all static. I never understood why mid and mp3 gets by though, but it does.

I used Nokia Multimedia Converter to take a video from my computer and change it over to a file my phone would read.. Ive never tried anything longer then 3 minutes but Im pretty sure I can.. It was Free..

Everyone should get a mac... jeeze, it's so simple to convert anything to 3gp or any format in os/x extremely fast. I encoded 20 of the family guy episodes to 3gp at 30fps to my 1gb card on my remix(which is now broken and im selling all the parts). Try finding FFMPEG for pc... that has a nice GUI to make it easy
