trying to get 815 (seem edit done) to connect to MPT 4.21. part of setting up the program is connecting the devices. MPT is not detecting my phone.. why?

another, more important issue is that i have a Bluespoon Bluetooth Dongle. friend says the software is weird and he doesnt like it. we have tried to get it working several times together. nothing. what is my problem here? why isnt this working for me? i might be dumb... really dumb.. but not ignorant. heh..

please help!!!!

More details please!!

What carrier do you have?

Which seem edit/edits did you do? just 2742/6A/Bit0, or did you also do the phone id string edit?

With MPT not detecting your phone....
Is it giving you an error?
Are you using USB Cable? or Bluetooth?
If bluetooth, what drivers does your BT dongle use?
If usb cable, is the phone listed under Modems in device manager as Moto USB Modem?
Do you have all other apps (like PST, P2KCommander, MSU, bitpim, etc..) closed?

Have you tried powering the phone off... then back on before trying with MPT?

i'm having similar problems

i've done the seem editing to make it an e815m, and in MPT, the multimeida studio icon lights up, and is functioning

however, when i try to load anything (images and mp3s are what i've tried), it tells me that the computer is not able to communicate with the phone.
when i first turn it on, i can access my phonebook and make adjustments in MPT with it, however, after i try a multimedia connection, the phonebook function doesn't work anymore either (until i reconnect, at least)

i'm using the usb dongle (listed in device manager as moto usb modem), verizon phone, winXP sp2

have tried rebooting computer, reconnecting phone to usb dongle and power cycling phone. maybe i'm missing a setting or i didn't get the right seem modification?

thanks

THis indicates that you probably did the PHONE ID String edit... BUT NOT the 2742/offset 6A/Bit0 edit...

For the Verizon E815 to work with MPT's MultiMedia Studio features... TWO things are needed...

1. The phone must be seem edited to re-enable its compatibility... Seem 2742, Bytes 7A, Offset 6A, Bit 0... "check the box" or set the value to "1" or "enabled".
2. MPT must see the phone as the "M" model of the phone... in this case E815M... there are three ways to do this... Manually config MPT for E815M, the Phone ID String Seem edit, or edit MPT's DETECT.INF file.

FAILURE TO DO BOTH means that while you might get MPT's MMS icon to show... it will NOT work.

i'm having a problem:

when i choose seem 2742 and bytes 7A, i get nothing.
the seem edit screen stays blank

i used the same P2K program to edit my phone to make it display as e815m, so i know that it does work

EDIT:

actually, now i can't get it to do anything with the phone
the seem edit i used was:
seem 2827, bytes 22
line 000000, make value in lower window 0008, check bits 0, 2, 3, 6

this, at least, seemed to work. it did make MPT recognize the phone as E815m. but now i can't even get p2k to load the 2827 seem

Do you have either PST or MSU running in the background? Does P2KSeem for V710 say "Connected" in the lower left?

Did you click the LOAD FROM PHONE button?

Posted by: mattesbueno

no, PST is not running int he background, i don't know what MSU is, so it's not running, and p2k does say connected

also, i did click load from phone

i don't understand where i went wrong

FOR CDMA phones... PST or MSU (motorola software update) must be running to properly suspend the phone so that P2KSeem can connect and LOAD/SAVE the seems...

And for the E815 and V3C... PST 7.23 or newer should be used...

as for MSU see -> http://www.v710.org/mark/MSU.htm

ok. thank you very much!

i got p2k to run correctly again. i had to turn PST on the first time i did the seem editing, so i don't know why i forgot about it.

also, that did make MPT start working correctly except now i think there's a PC software issue

when i try to transfer mp3 or wav files, it gives me a "Processing failed" error

EDIT:
instead of bringing in pre-made .mp3 and .wav files, it just wanted me to rip them fresh from the CDs.

thanks for all your help!

WAV files are NOT supported unless you use MPT's Melody Studio, as it re-encodes to 32kbit/22khz/mono MP3's as it transfers (even if they were MP3's to begin with!!)...

Encode your MP3's as 48kbit/44khz/mono and use the File Transfer Studio feature of MPT's MultiMedia Studio to get them on the phone...

Also, its a good idea to power the phone off, then on prior to using MPT...
