Newbie needs help w/ mp3s

New to the forum, new to Motorola and to Verzion. I followed instruction on how to put mp3s in to my phone (Razr V3 Charcoal colored, I'm not sure if that's the V3c or not.) and I installed the Motorola Mobile Phonetunes but when I connected my phone to my computer, my computer didnt recognize my phone. How do I make it be recognizible?
