What do I need for the 5300?

I havent owned a camera phone yet, nor have I enrolled in Sprint's PCS vision plan. Im planning to get the 5300. But before I do, I want to know what I need in order to use it (taking pictures and stuff).

I just have the regular "Free and Clear" Plan. Do I have to sign up for PCS Vision?

Do I have to buy extra software, cables in order to use the camera feature? Or should everything I need be included in the box?

Also, how to get the pics after taking them? transfer them from phone to PC? or upload first to sprint and then download them to pc?

Can someone provide me a good explanation of all the requirements and how it works? Thanks.

Well, you don't actually need to make any changes to your plan, although the person you call to activate your phone will probably tell you that you do (and you probably want to, anyway).

If you don't sign up for Vision, you will be paying $0.02 per kilobyte transferred, which will get very expensive, very fast. If you add Vision to your current plan, it will be an additional $10 for unlimited transfer (although there is some talk that it may change to a metered rate soon).

You don't need any extra software or cables to use your phone's camera. After you take some pictures, they'll be stored in the "camera" partition of your phone's memory. From there, you can copy them to your "wallet" for viewing later on the phone, or you can upload them to the web. There is a very nice "upload all" command that uploads all pics currently in the camera and also deletes them from local (camera) memory.

After pictures are uploaded, you can go directly to the online gallery by choosing "online pictures" from within your camera (to view previously uploaded pics on your phone). You can also log in to www.pictures.sprintpcs.com to view them (or download them to your computer) from your personal computer's browser.

It's actually a very slick interface, since you don't need any cables or software (no more inexplicable crashes!) and you can just keep taking pics with the camera without worrying that you'll fill up the camera's memory (just upload/erase and keep shooting).

I hope that answers all your questions.
