hello everyone...i currently flashed my verizon v3c to the alltel firmware using the wiki guide here. earlier today i sent one of my friends a pix message and she says it came from a completely different number/area code/all that good stuff. i'm pretty sure i did everything right, but is that even possible? very strange.

also if anyone wants to suggest something, i'm trying to upload skins onto the phone and nothing really happens except i get a white background and it's just as ugly as stock. i realize the answer's probably somewhere on this board however i do not have the time to sift through thousands of threads, and if someone can directly link me to a site/thread where i can troubleshoot this problem it would be greatly appreciated.

can't edit posts? oh well. atleast i can't see how to do so.

anyways NOW it's really screwed up. i didn't change anything and sending messages fail 100% of the time. and it had been working perfectly fine before. now this. grr.

i'm considering flashing back to verizon firmware but i know that if i can get it working then there are so many more features/etc! someone please help.

Hey I recently flashed my verizon v3c to alltel, actually on the 6/4/06 and i had the same thing happen with a picture message. My friend on the other end called verizon to ask why such a thing would occur, and of course they were completely useless in explaining such a phenomenon.

Also, I am having problems with my video camera in that it gives me a system error everytime I try to take a video. Grr!

I think I'm gonna flash it again and maybe it will reset itself. Who knows!

If anyone actually does know how to fix this, PLEASE HELP!

ok well i flashed to a different alltel firmware and it's holding out alright for now...i haven't tried sending a pix message yet though.

still, what's the explanation for this?

Okay, so last night after I posted I flashed back to verizon .03 firmware, then flashed back to alltel .04 firmware and everything is working great.

I used the wiki sticky on flashing verizon to alltel to fix the mms (mulitimedia messaging) and pictures and videos send flawlessly. You can also fix get it now there.

The only assumption that I have with people recieving messages with other phone numbers is that verizon reads our phone number incorrectly due to the fact that we're using an alltel firmware. This is not for sure but its one possibility.

If any hacker expert has any other ideas please let us know!

Okay... so I was playing around with my messages>inbox>option>setup>callback number and there was nothing listed... So I put my phone number in and I think that will automatically attach that number with picture messages.

I hope this solves the problem.

alright, thanks...i'll try that mitty.

still no explanation for WHY last night 100% of my attempts to send a message would fail?

also...i have about 140 contacts saved from a while back, and for some reason i can't get mpt to connect to my razr. i've tried many times/reinstalling drivers, reinstalling mpt, etc. etc. and i really don't want to put them all back in manually. the contact table is in *.csv format.

is there any other program that i could use to slap these back onto the phone? or a way to fix mpt?

UGH. it started screwing up again! i'm sitting here and i can't send a single message. this is getting REALLY frusterating.

The only thing that i can recomend is reflashing it to verizon, and then back to alltel. You can find the firmwares here.... http://www.humpa.com/vzw/

This is your best bet. The same thing happened to my phone, and this fixed it. After you flash it back to alltel make sure you follow EVERY step in the wiki for fixing MMS.

alrighty i'll try that.

it's just wierd how over half the time it works fine, (and even faster than with my old verizon firmware) but sometimes it just freaks out and doesn't work at all.

Yeah I know how you feel. Thats one thing that just happens when you flash a phone. I mean you're messing with its firmware so things can act funny from time to time. You just gotta make sure you do all the fixes at the wiki site I posted earlier. Thats what helped me to fix my phone.

Let me know if the reflash to alltel worked for you!
