Further info about Re-Provisioning

Maybe this has been discussed somewhere in the forum, but anyway here it is...

I discovered that one of the re-provisioning does is getting the Internet/GPRS, MMS settings...
When I changed the SIM card, the Vodafone JP settings are gone...
Then, when I changed back to Vodafone JP SIM card again, the settings are not there yet... at this point, nothing works, i.e. WAP/Internet, MMS (email in Japan)... except SMS... eventhough I'm in Japan and using Vodafone JP...

After I did the re-provisioning update, the Vodafone JP settings are back there... and the WAP/Internet and MMS (email) started to work again...

I don't think there's a fix to the re-provisioning problem, since it is made for getting Vodafone JP settings... which also made me think that they designed the phones to dislike other SIM cards...

Note: this only applies to Japanese firmware phones... maybe only V902SH???

903sh/904sh with nihon fw has the same "problem" as well.,

hmm i wonder how possible it would be to change the address to which it looks for the settings. then just set up your own files on a server and allow the phone to update its "settings"...

perhaps fw hack?! but if thats possible why not just disable re-provision instead?

you can disable the statement within the code that asks for reprovisioning.. the problem is looking for it in the 904... its not in the same place.. as 903...

should not be hard to find it thou if u are able to hack the firmware right?

Posted by: Timsta

it is hard... even if you can see the code.. its like buried at times. it took awhile for 903

Hey Tim, are you able to remove the reprovisioning on 902SH... unlocked original JP firmware, never did master reset and never want to... coz I don't wanna lose my emails and sms msgs...

Posted by: Timsta

noipe.. not on the 902s.. i only made one for 903.

tim

Posted by: dav34

I see... but can you do it or have you tried to remove it before?

Posted by: Timsta

for 902? never even tried. didn't bother too.. not as many users

902 flash chinese.

Posted by: dav34

I don't like the Chinese firmware... sometimes I need to write in Japanese... plus I don't wanna loose my msgs...
Anyone know how to transfer the msges? Using 902SH-custom-made software? Don't know why they didn't allow to transfer msges from the Handset Manager, as the previous model GX-30...
