ok, so ive had mine for a while now, and theres only one thing i dont understand. and that is how to turn off the palm part of the thing. because if you just take the battery out, then everything is gone! EVERYTHING!!! isnt there some kind of button cell backup battery i could replace, or maybe rig up? im quite handy with the soldering iron. i love this phone but wtf is up with this. lol somebody explain this to me please!

there is supposed to be a back up battery in the phone which will allow you to do this. but looks like yours is dead.... what u can do is unplug the charger portion from the cradle, plug it into the bottom of the phone and then take the battery off, as this will provide power to the phone, u shouldnt lose your info, works to talk that way too. but sync first. just in case

actually, i think youre right. except i dont think its dead. i took it out again today and nothing happened. i think what happened the other night was that it froze (which is why i took the batt. out) maybe thats what caused the data loss. hmm...
oh but one more thing, IS there a way to turn off the palm part, or is it just on all the time? :P

Yes, In a PALM smartphone...The P A L M part is A L W A Y S O N.
There has never been a smartphone where you turned off the...well..."smart" part of it. You can however, turn off the Phone part of the smartphone where it simply becomes a palm pilot...well, the only device I know that does this is the Treo 600 because, thats the only smartphone i ever had. Now, if you dont want the plam part always on, buy a palm pilot off ebay (I got a GREAT one with a 350MHZ processor, and a 1.2 Megapixel camera for 125!) and a simple phone (I also have a Kyocera KX 414).
Sorry if I sounded mean,
Aaron
