Razr having trouble using mp3 as ringtone

My V3 doesn't seem to want to set my mp3s as ringtones. I'm with Rogers and I heard that Verizon customers also seem to have this problem. I can play them through the multimedia player but can't set it as a ringtone. Does anyone know how I can get past this?
My friend has a Razr from Bell and was able to use my Motorola phone tools to upload mp3s onto her phone and use it as a ringtone. I suspect the problem is that Rogers has locked the phone somehow to force people to download their ringtones. If this question has already been answered, I would greatly appreciate it if someone could direct me to the post cause I've been searching on the forums but i can't find it and I got dizzy trying to get through all the posts in the superthreads...

how big is the mp3 and whats the bitrate on it?
Posted by: mvgrl
The file size is 277kb at a bitrate of 56kbps. The song's been cut down to 33 secs. What is the recommended size?

mvgrl, you need a few programs in order for it to work succesfully, they are BitPim, and Motorola Mobile Phone Tools. You can find either on the web somewhere. What do you use to transfer the mp3's to your phone?

you need to delete the 2 db files as per the instructions over at www.xlr8.us/hofo
rogers does not have any limitation on using personal mp3s as ringtones like bellus has...

By any chance do you know which 2 bits in which seem file that I need to change? I've gone through the whole http://xlr8.us/hofo/map.txt and the only bit that I think might work is in seem 0032
offset 4a - bit 4: Settings > Security > Lock Application > Ring Styles (1 on, 0 off)
