--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've been reading all over the net that Cingular, to coincide with the launch of thier new Blackberry, is releasing a new Blackberry Personal Plan. This is a $29.99 plan that is for people who do not use BES. It is to be available June 12. What I want to know is whether or not this plan will be available to existing Cingular customers! I just got a 7290 and about a day ago subscribed to the $44.99 plan. (Unlmtd). I have no use for BES, all i want to do is use the internet(with-out limit) and get my internet mail(yahoo, hotmail,gmail..etc). Does anyone have any clue about this plan and who will be able to subscribe to it? And what devices are eligible? Thanks alot!!

I'm sure this will be available to existing customers....call cs Monday and they will hook you up.

I am sure that it will also force some of the other carriers to look closely at what they are charging, too. With BIS 2.0 little resources are required to maintain an account and the price needs to be adjusted industry wide.

I spoke to the Tech guy on the cingular live chat forum today and he told me that BIS accounts will automatically be switched over to the new rate and 2.0 . He said we should be able to sign on to our acct tomorrow and look under "features" and see the change. Then if not to call in.

I used to use a blackberry and have my Yahoo mail forwarded to the Cingular Blackberry email address (name @cingular.blackberrysomething.com) which was of course, the instant push mail. I could then view/edit/send messages from the web client if I wanted, too.
Would this new rate plan retain that, or just data only? I wouldn't want a blackberry without that famous push mail.

From what I understand... (which I will admit isnt much) the only changes besides price that we will see is BIS will only have 10MB of space as opposed to 25MB and there will not be the "folders" option. I also read that its supposed to include the "apn" so we can use prgrams 3dr party software like ramble and verichat without the crazy overage charges. Also I read something about unlimited Media Net being included... but I thought I already had unlimited Media Net with the BB plan.

If it's like TMO, you won't get any storage space. You will need to use Yahoo or another email if you want to store messages. Messages sent to your xxx@cing.blackberry.net address will only be viewable on the BB itself.
