v3 flashing

dear friends
when i start pst the phone is connected when i start the flashing process it gives me an error "FLASH failed Cannot access motorola flash interface ".
similar error is given by rsd lite 2.5 i am totally confused
please help me as i want to flash my phone with newest firmware
also
one important thing my red button i.e start/close button is not working
please suggest me some thing .
i have downloaded

Sounds to me like you don't have any drivers installed. My site could help you with what you are trying to do. Get the P2K drivers. It would also help us if you told us what was currently on your phone.
