I filled out an online application and took the online test. I was referred by a Cingular store manager since I am always in there when my Wife goes shopping. I have an interview next week. What is invoved in the interview? Do they give another evaluation test? What is required as a Sales Rep? What does an average sales rep make the first year in an average traffic store? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

You need to prioritize when listing your personal highlights. Preferably keep your list of convicted felonies near the end due to the Primacy/Recency effect.

Wish I had more help for ya, but don't know much about the retail Cingular expectations. Good luck though!

Be yourself. Answer questions honestly.

Seriously, that's the best advice IMO. The fact that you were called in for the interview means Cingular thinks you'll be a good fit, or they can train you to be one. However I don't work for COR, that's just what it seems to me.

As far as pay, it is entirely up to you, but I'd ball park it somewhere between 35k to 45k. At least that's what most reps on here seem to make that share their salaries.

1. what is involved in the interview is really dependant upon how the manager is. Some are laid back, relaxed, they'll ask you some questions about what sales experience you have and so on. Some are strict, by the book, and will ask about experiences, if you've been in wireless before they'll ask quotas, who was your worst and best customer, blah blah blah. you shouldn't have to do another evaluation tho. but, like mentioned above, be honest and be confident but not over bearing. also have a second copy of your resume on hand just in case they need a clean copy and dress nice

2. as a sales rep you are required to help customers, make money, and keep the store profitable and presentable. that's the short version.

3. i'd go with the 35K to 45K. the problem is most of that is commissions and of course a lot of that is up to you. traffic may be average but it's up to you to maybe drive more traffic through reaching out to business and how you are at also closing sales that come in to the store.

I used to be a store manager and interview ppl all the time...

heres what to expect:
when you get there you're asked about previous schooling, then several questions that evaluate a different sales ability (reliability, sales ability, stress tolerance, etc) and you'll need to answer those with multiple answers. afterwhich, you'll be asked a few goal questions and the big question "what do you expect from cingular / your manager" (that question depends upon market-we used it in philly).

from there you'll get a handshake, a card (if the manager knows how to network) and a callback in a few days.

salary is negotiable (but only ask the figure and try to negotiate after you've been offered the job) 22k - 28k (depending on previous experience) and commission is pretty lucrative in an 'average' store...my sales reps in '05 made between 42k-48k depending on how hard they worked.
