"Unable To Charge" V635

Has there ever been a definitive cause for this problem? It is so annoying! I always have to plug the charger in and out numerous times to get it to finally start charging. Also if the phone is powered off, then plugging in to charge it often actually powers the phone ON then displays "Unable to charge" of course. Then I have to power OFF and try again ( I don't like leaving the phone on at night when I charge it). I'm using the charger that came with the phone. It worked fine for the first couple months.

I just got this problem for the first time since I purchased my v635, it was a bit annoying, but what fixed the problem for me was taking the battery out for a minute and put it back, then try.

First I lose my data cord to the v635 now retrieve the "Unable to charge" error on my phone, I think it's time for a new phone

try cleaning the 3 contacts that the charge touch when you hook it up.

Electrical contact cleaner and an old toothbrush - clean the connector on the phone, pins on the charger and any contacts in between (USB cable, dock, headset splitter...)

If your phone is under one year old and is not damaged, and it is not a dirty connection, you are still covered under the manufacturers warranty. You can get your phone fixed at no cost. If your phone is over a year old, it does not cost that much to fix. Hold Motorola responsible for their poor design.

If it turns out to be crud on the connectors, I don't know how one can hold Motorola responsible for it

I edited my post for you. The P2K charge port is one of the worst designs I have ever seen. At the repair center I work at, it is the most common problem we see. They get lifted off of the circuit board with normal use. The manufacturer recommends not talking on the phone while it charges to avoid the issue.

LOL, now THAT'd be a defect for sure. I've seen that mentioned a few times.

I must say that I had similar "dirty connector" problems with the headphone connection on some Nokias, my 6340i included. But thus far I haven't had a contact fall off.

Good thing I use a BT headset with my Motos, eh? No stressing/scraping/whatever of the contacts then...
