So...anyone know how to hack it yet?

LOL.

Posted by: Ra_Harmakis

I'm no expert in hacking...... but don't you need to be able to buy the phone before you hack it??

Or is there a special Raza Hack that turns the Moto Into a Nokia????

Yeah, with a few slight modifications in P2KCommander, your Moto Razr will transform into a Nokia slider phone, which is very hackable!

From the Launch party and info read about the phone it all states it is OBEX enabled but you will have to wait till someone gets a hold of one and it looks like either tomorrow or Friday as it was just launched.

Posted by: Zellenzicklein

On the website it say:
share pictures, sounds, and text from phone to phone, phone to e-mail, or phone to an online photo album.

Posted by: baggio4eva

the only thing u cant do is set mp3's as ringtones.

Hmmm Where have I heard that before ?

Now Officially from the Manual :

Copyright protections may prevent some images, ringing tones & other content from being copied , modified, transferred or forwarded.

Posted by: blibbertibs

somebody hack the battery so it lasts longer.

Posted by: greeniguana_01

it doesn't say anything on the website about OBEX being enabled.

So far this thread is 100% USELESS

WE have tried it on both Bluetooth and IR with sending / getting "business card", pictures, music, video files among other GSM / CDMA handsets, Palm, PocketPC.

*What exactly OBEX is...

It is NOT a crime or stupid to get confused with techno jargon! So do not be shy to ask what exactly it is. Just please do not mix it up with other profiles like DUN, A2DP, AVRCP which seems not supported in 6265i.

*Copyright / DRM is in placed for assigning ringtones... http://207.210.82.131/showthread.ph...681#post7296681

keitaro2k1,

TELUS does not make use of AGPS / AFLT at all like Bell does! And, unlike those iDEN handsets from Motorola which really has a SiRF module inside to get the data from the constellation of birds up there to assist the location service, the 6265i along with many CDMA handsets would NOT run into the power-draining feature even if you allow the location info to be shared with the network all the time.

keitaro2k1,

The location-based service is done via IP and it has to be connected back and forth to a specialized server on the network side to do the calculation with the data gathered from the AGPS / AFLT components. Unfortunately, TELUS has yet to offer such access to the service. Those please read this FAQ at:

http://207.210.82.131/showthread.ph...366#post2126366
http://207.210.82.131/showthread.ph...286#post1833286
http://207.210.82.131/showthread.ph...592#post2126592

Bell has it with the value-added apps like MapMe. For the wireless e911, it is getting close to be commerically available. Bell has conduct trials last summer. However, it will NOT work if you force your TELUS handset to roam on Bell because the authentication measure will prevent non-Bell subscriber to access the location-based service.

So, any hack on the handset side would not do any good.

You must have patience with some of the guys here! I posted 2 weeks ago that June 15th was the launch date in plain english, but I still got hundreds of emails asking me when the realse date was going to be.

ok but if we go to the states and roam, would it be active then? since all cellphone providers would have gps enabled on their networks because of some law or something...

also has anyone hacked the mp3 ringtone yet?

You know, we may be the dying breed! Remember, we do not post things that we do not know about or things could not be confirmed.

I have only made a few mistakes or speculations based on nothing over the years since the era of USENET. I am not mad at anyone or getting personal. What I am mad about, is nowadays many members / visitors are getting too spoiled or putting relatively much less effort to find the relevant information. Sure, it is like a neddle in the haystack often. But, what makes other resourceful people different?

keitaro2k1,

Sorry, if I have not made you understand... Perhaps, I have not written in the way you can fully digest. This will be the same case with A N Y roam carriers because there is authentication mesaures to restrict the access many provisions including location-based service for their very own subscribers only! Therefore, if you are roaming on Verizon in the US, for example, you STILL CANNOT make use of any location-based service, even there is e911 mandate from FCC. Roaming partners have NO obligation to offer every single provision to roaming subscribers from other carriers.

Regarding the DRM issue... You have to understand while someone is lucky to have their carriers' PRI file allowing to toggle certain items, some carriers may ask Nokia to hide those items which you will not even see it in Diego at all!

has telus locked it out of digeo?

Posted by: HC - NO "i"

{By the request of the author, this guide has been revised to address the missing icon issue some may experience}

Now instead of dragging on with things that have been "SOLVED", I move on with something more intriguing...

*ISSUE: I am fine with the TELUS wake up jingle / animation or even the "SHOP hard-key" (well, it is supposedly a soft-key in the Nokia realm). However, I personally think that the TELUS-rized Main Menu Icons are plain ugly! So what to do with it? Change the Theme, you may suggest. But look what happens...

Well, the TELUS-rized Main Menu Icons STAY! Now what?

*SOLUTION: Try MobiMB! (Please S E A R C H or Google about this 3rd party program that have been around in the world of Nokia for long time. IF you find it useful and like it, upgrade to the full version like I have purchased.) It is also better to get a Data Cable CA-53 or at least DKU-2 from Nokia. Using IR or Bluetooth connection with the current version of MobiMB is possible but I prefer to use the wired connection, so YMMV.

1. Hook up the 6265i to the computer and launch MobiMB and look into the folder, Gallery / Themeactive...

The folder, locked_theme_elem contains all those TELUS-rized menu icons - NOT just Main Menu icons. But, DO NOT simply delete them because it will cause some new issues like missing icons in certain menus if you do.

The file, theme_lock.xml may contain the instruction to override the specific theme menu icons with the Default theme, i.e. TELUS-rized theme.

The file, themes.ini contain the configuration of the current active theme, i.e wallpapers, ringtones, etc.

2. Remember, BACK UP the files and files in the folders... ONE FILE AT A TIME! MobiMB may not response correctly if you just copy the whole folder or select all then drag the whole bunch at the same time. So copy the files in the "locked_theme_elem" folder and files "theme_lock.xml" , "themes.ini" to the computer FIRST!. So if anything goes wrong, you can restore it to the original condition.

3. In the 6265i, you MUST FIRST Change AND Apply ANY OTHER THEME THAN the TELUS-rized "Default" ONE.

I have found that we CANNOT leave the TELUS-rized "default" theme active and simply changing wallpapers, screen savers, etc. as opposed to apply other themes. If you do that AND continue with the following steps, upon every reboot / power cycle, your selections will be gone like you have never set them!

If you really like the authentic, original Nokia "Basic" default theme, I suggest you to get the Nokia Series 40 3rd Edition basic theme in the 240x320 screen size first (Extract it from a 6270 or Check with places like asking the resident guru at Mobile9.com, for example). Read more about it at please read... http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...322#post7514322

4. Now, you should see the wallpaper and screensaver (or other pre-defined items like ringtones) have changed according to the theme you have chosen... except the TELUS-rized Main Menu icons Do not worry, we are half way to de-TELUS-rized it.

5. Cycle the power (i.e. REBOOT, turning off and on) the 6265i.

6. In MobiMB, JUST delete ONE file, "theme_lock.xml" ONLY. By this time, some of the icons may be missing but it is normal so far.

7. Cycle the power (i.e. REBOOT, turning off and on) the 6265i. *A bonus... There will be no more TELUS-rized power-on / shut-down animation / jingle too!

8. Upon reboot, go the Main Menu and verify the icons...

TaDa! No more TELUS-rized Main Menu Icon!

9. Now compare the BEFORE and AFTER...

*NOTE: If you decide to switch it back to the Default theme, please keep that in mind it is TELUS-rized theme! The TELUS-rized Main Menu icons will come back! However, the TELUS-rized icons will not stay if you switch to other themes from now on... just a little annoying to set all the display, profile and theme configurations though.

If anything goes wrong in the worst case scenario, you can restore everything original with the back up items done earlier.

Enjoy!

- You may have not read what TelecomZombie has posted! Have you actually click on the link he posted?

- At the time I posted my response because the PRI file I have played with is different from the final release from TELUS. The prototypes / beta version PRI still has the item to allow the toggle the ringtones DRM / Copyright restriction. Remember, I do not post things I have not confirmed with. Now, as I have tried with the release version from TELUS, and I can tell you that it works.

So do not give up easily! It is relatively more difficult but it is not totally impossible. Also, I do not want to make it so high-profile because HoFo is indeed popular - even to those in the industry from carriers to manufacturers. I do not want to see TELUS or Nokia will make our "Future LESS Friendly"!

fatredcircle,

No, you are not retard at all. But you are better to familiarize with the riddles and cryptic clues Helmsley has been giving out since the dawn of HoFo

Anybody in Calgary that wants to link up to hack this phone?

it worked! Go Diego Go!

same method/instructions here:

just make sure its version 3.06

and the last part when you write it back to your phone, it will stay on "local mode" but not flashing, just unplug the cable, and remove the battery. put it back and turn it on.

Ahhhhhhhhh, it feels good to have your own custom ringtones on the 6265....
Now the problem is that you can't set ringtones for specific contacts, one must through the group option to be able to set the ringtone for a specific group. There are only 5 groups available and we can't create any (so far). So i guess that we will have to find a way to assign ringers to contacts or if that doesn't work find a way to add more groups

man this diego software looks like a powerfull tool....BUTT ugly though....

There must be an option in there to make the dar id pics bigger !

Posted by: HC - NO "i"

Folks,

Can you guy please consider these:

* Stick to the topic: Nokia 6265i hacking. If you suddenly have another unrelated questions, please post in another relevant threads.

* Sure, hacking involve the original PST like Deigo or Phoenix for Nokia will be the best. However, these programs are NOT supposed to be distributed among end-users. The more we passed around, talk about in popular venue like HowardForums.com, it may force Nokia and carriers to beef up security for the next versions / models. True, there are specific venues dedicated to hacking / flashing around but HoFo is for much wider demographics - meaning manufacturers and carriers are also frequently visiting here. So please, think about the possible implications.

I am sure we all want our "Future to be more friendly", not the other way around.

hey all...picked up my nokia a few days ago...I think it's an awesome looking phone, nice colours, size, weight...great look overall...wish it allowed you to store a few more quick dial numbers...and the slider is a bit more wobbly than i like, but oh well, it beats the crap outta my old audiovox so i'm happy... (yes, THAT happy)...

anyways, I've looked high and low for this diego software...i'm sure most of us are familiar with the "obstacles" in acquiring it...I don't want to spam that other board, and I am willing to contribute to it, but what I can't possibly do is continue to listen to boring ringtones everytime a person calls...

if someone has any other "suggestions"...can you please PM me?

thanks...!

For those of you who have and use their PDAs, you can sync all your contacts with the 6265i so that you wont have to retype all your phone numbers. You can select all your contacts and send them all at once for convenience sake.

edit: forgot to mention it works both for bluetooth and IR

Question about the Bluetooth file transfers. Selecting a jpeg and going through SEND > BLUETOOTH > (picking the device whether it being another phone, pda, or PC) always results in "Bluetooth Connection failed".. Is this supposed to work? or is this the WRONG way of doing it?

one more thing... regarding bluetooth... i tried pairing my phone with another bluetooth enabled phone (razr on rogers) and they seem to pair, but nothing happens after that. i'm unaware of how to browse them or transfer files of any sort...

i've never really done bluetooth before, i'm no master, but i'm sure it doesn't take rocket science to see that even though the phones are paired, the nokia drops the connection.... hrmph!

You have to swithc to one of the built-in theme (e.g. Zen, Golf, Butterfly) first, then get rid of the TELUS-rized, locked default theme BEFORE you can go further. Otherwise, missing icons or everything will revert back to default. Read the workaround for this FAQ...

mightymike84,

You have to select the files you want to send via Bluetooth first, then use it to send from one device over to another device. What is so trivial? I have not found any problem unless one of the device is set to not "discoverable".

Cool I got my phone looking a little bit like OS X using a theme.

the other phone may not be accepting the transfer request in time,
I have had no problem sending jpg files TO the nokia phone but I have not tried sending from it..
just make sure the phone you are sending to is getting the request, and make sure you hit accept.

I know someone already answered, but to be more clear.. to transfer files you do not need to pair the phones, pairing is only really for accesories like BT headset/gps etc..
Make sure BT is turned on for both phones, set the phone that is recieving to "discoverable" or also the option may say "set device to be seen by other devices" and then go to your file explorer on the sending phone, select the file to transfer and from there in the options it should say "send" or similar.. click send via BT and on the recieving phone you most likely will get a msg like "Do you want to accept data from "sending phone"? and click yes...

Posted by: TelecomZombie

You will need Sufficient Internal Memory to receive file for Successful Transfer!
Thats why I have freed up nearly 18MB of 6265i memory

I realize that ... and the other device won't show up in the list unless it is discoverable. Everything SHOULD work properly, but it's still restricting me. This has happed with my laptop, my Dell Axim x51v PDA, and my friend's UTSTARCOM 6700... Same outcome everytime (even though they are all discoverable)

My father was having problems synching his older nokia phone with his PC using BT. We eventually found out that the BT stack on his phone (I believe) was not the same or compatible with the BT dongle he was using on the PC. Not saying this is your problem, but another place to look.. good luck.

Ok I've got Diego 3.06 running but it is not reading my phone, it just keeps on searching. I am using a DKU-2 USB Cable too.

Can somebody help me out?

Was I supposed to download the usb driver that came with the cable?

Nokia uses a more secure BT than most !

Ok got it working! I think the trick was to connect the phone to the usb while turned off, then turn it on. Diego then recognized it.

I'm confused. Are we supposed to be using a DKU-2 cable or a CA-53 data cable?

whothis,

It is NOT a bug or flaw, it is the way Series 40 3rd Edition UI works. So, no workaround for this limitation.

What about S60 Nokia phones ? DO you know if contact pictures actually use the HUGE screen ?

I sure hope that they will make a cdma N series phone cuz those N70-71-80 etc phones sure make my 6265 look like a fischer price toy...

yah, I have a Qtek 9100 GSM phone on rogers network (just in case you want to look it up) and it has a huge screen, but for some reason the caller ID pics are TINY.. pretty much the same as this nokia phone but my screen is about twice the size.. what a waste of space.

I can suggest you a good canadian dealer on ebay. Check his store out :

That's where i bought my ca-53 cable and he ordered about 50 of them knowing that the 6265 was coming out. I got mine within 3 days and if you live in ontario it will take 1 day. Canada post is one of the best mail systems in the world so you won,t have any problems at all.

It works top notch, i told him about the 6265 release and he ordered lots of ca-53 cable so go ahead he is reliable. On top of that he knows about this forum too.

Nokia should definitely let the cable charge the phone as well though...right now it doesn't but other than that i have used the cable to connect to Mobimb, Nokia PC Suite and some "other" program so like allways; ask away if you have any questions. (Installation, driver, connection etc...)

I just did and i called him and he said it should be here by friday.

Posted by: anachronism

This might not count as anything special but since I use a Mac and nothing seems to apply to me in terms of modifying, the way I found to get MP3/ custom ringtones is just to import the audio file into iMovie, save without actual video clips and then convert it to 3gp. No need for "special" software or even a data cable. It just gets used as an incoming call video instead of a ringtone but gets the same result.

Thought it was worth passing along if its applicable for anyone else here.

does he supply a tracking #

Posted by: Presidan

I didn't get one, then again i didn't ask for one but i'M sure that he can provide you one if you want but the package will probably be in your mailbox by the time you think about tracking it. it was that fast for me, i see that you are in BC, it will prolly take 4-5 days for you to get it.

I doubt there is a hack that can change this, but has anyone noticed the functionality of the radio REQUIRES you to to have some kind of headset attached, even though you can then set the radio to play on the loudspeaker.
And as you might suspect even if on loudspeaker once you disconnect the headset the radio turns off.

I'm looking for a way to activate the radio without having to use a headset.

The Headset acts as an antenna... which is why it is always required.

It doesn't apply to the 6265. You have to select the contact you want to assign a specific ringtone to, then click on options, add detail and ringtone will be all the way at the bottom. PM me if you need some help

1.Press the camera button(or go into the camera via menu).
2.Then press the options button and goto flash and enable it.
3.Now press right on the d-pad(arrow pad) so that you cycle through each 4.camera features(Camera, Portirate, Night, Video).
Once you get to video the flash will be on and it will stay on for as long as you are in that mode.
Now you have a bright led flashlight!

slyguy,

Regarding the relatively soft volume during calls / conversation of many Nokia handsets (not just CDMA but GSM as well), it has been a theory suggesting that it is purposely done for ettiquette reason... So people will not yell at thier Nokia when talking. Our brains will be confused by the sound coming out from the earpiece because we may not hear our own voice as normally do. So we tend to speak louder to compensate it. One of the workaround is to use "side-tone", i.e. putting certain level of sound picked up by the mouthpiece into the "conversation", so we can hear our own voice coming out from the earpiece. However, too much side-tone would become too noisy as it also picks up undesirable background noise as well.

This item is something I need to experiment with... All the earpiece / mouthpiece audio parameters are bunch of numbers!!! I need to hook up with my engineering connections at Nokia to be sure about what to try. However, since the Nokia-Sanyo-CDMA-no-go news has been tough for them, so I think it maybe never be resolved.

Thank you for the response. Whether anything can be done or not, I am grateful for your efforts. I work in a busy, not too quiet environment, and to me the volume issue is a biggie. I love every other aspect of this phone (the form factor, the screen, the camera, a functional alarm, etc ) but my razr beats it hands down in the earpiece dept. Thanks again, your help is appreciated.

Yes, but you have to find a Pop-port to 2.5mm headset adapter like one by Belkin. Since the ORIGINAL Nokia stereo headset act as an antenna with the cord itself, so the trick will not get the good reception like when you use the proper gears... You will experience static, interference. Touching the adapter with you body will help to boost it though.

Read more about the trick at http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...440#post7124440

Well, i'm not sure about the whole hearing our own voice side of things but for my part i find that i can barely hear other people's voice on incoming calls sometimes. I mean it simply gets frustrating trying to hear incoming calls in public places and resolving the issue by using the loudspeaker isn't appropriate in my book.

I really don't understand the problem with the volume on this phone during calls... it feels pretty darn loud to me and I don't exactly have the best hearing. Nor do I always hold the phone very close (I am trying not to touch the screen).

What gives?!?! Are other people picky or deaf or what?

i tried it, almost identical menu but instead it shows "tuning parameters" and equalizer for earpiece and microphone. then a bunch of index and values. i tried changing the index 1 from 3 to 5 then loaded the file but my phone keeps restarting so i went back to the original pri.
i guess i just need some more time to find it or just wait until someone figure it out.

i guess i just need some more time to find it or just wait until someone figure it out.

bonjoey,

Exactly I have told in the last page...

Another thing I suspect is that the one we are using with the TELUS PRI... it may be there to work with the Auto Volume Control.

Well, those instructions (not the clearest) state that you should delete the 2 files and then change the theme after which is what i did. I also am using the world cup theme and both the camera and shop icon are missing.

As for the small icons or icons without titles just go to menu/options/main menu view and select grid with labels.

TELUSMAC,

No, you have NOT messed up at all!

1. Reboot your 6265i and the missing icons will come back. If not, try to change the theme again BUT NOT the TELUS Default one.

2. The label of the Main Menu Icons can be toggled... At the Main Menu, press the LEFT soft-key, Options > Main menu view, then you have 3 choices: List, Grid, Grid with labels.

Personally, I prefer it without label because the menu label will show at the TOP LEFT corner of the screen whenever you scroll the main menu anyway.

Folks,

I am reviewing what may have happened to those who have got missing icons regardless of following my guide. True, I have not made it the clearest for everyone around. So feel free to contribute and share your tips and tricks with all of us.

Back to the MobiMB screen first... After the initial mod, do you see any change to the folder, Gallery / Themeactive...? Some and I have found that by deleting the "theme.ini" at the time when TELUS-rized Default theme is active, it may run into problem. Upon reboot, it may create a new folder, theme_setup2 alongside the theme_setup1. IF it is the case, this may be the cause... the "theme.ini" has the path for the information of the theme items. Since I tell you to delete the "theme.ini" file along with "theme_lock.xml", upon reboot it has got no more instruction to look for. My initial idea is to force the 6265i to re-create a system default WITHOUT the TELUS-rized "theme_lock.xml" instruction. However, it will also attempt to create a "new" theme_setup folder as well! With the theme_setup1 exists already, it may create the theme_setup2 as a result.

So, please look into yours and see what you have got in there. And, as I have told before, if anything undesire happens, simply restore the files back up BEFORE the mod. Then let us to find more with different approach. I have done with not just mine, but at least 2 more 6265i with slightly different order of my initial guide - i.e. apply the other theme first, delete just the "theme_lock.xml". And, everytime when I reboot, the icons will be there.

I have also found that we CANNOT leave the default active and changing wallpapers, screen savers, etc. as opposed to apply other themes. Upon every reboot / power cycle, every selection will be gone! So I suggest you to get the Nokia Series 40 3rd Edition basic theme in the 240x320 screen size first (Extract it from a 6270 or Check with places like asking the resident guru at Mobile9.com, for example). This is the real Nokia default as far as I concern.

In summary, if you have found something works, please share with us and I will update the guide or ask moderators to change my guide accordingly.

TELUSMAC,

This is what several (e.g. TelecomZombie, Helmsley) and I have done. It is better to keep an ORIGINAL Nokia basic / default theme around.

sorry dude i had hard time understanding..but it's too late for me ..i ready deleted file.and cant seem to find the same theme ...on mobile9.com

Ok, My mobimb shows up nothing other than "Nokia 6265/6265i" and no matter how much times i click it, it wont open anything and it says my phone is active. Im using the IR infrared but I doesnt seem to be working well..

don lee

SOLUTION: Try MobiMB!

Oh boy, I can hear so many people snickering after reading your post. It is a rare occasion indeed when a Canadian provider gets a truly cool phone in advance of one of the US carriers. I suppose we should enjoy it while it lasts.

Now when you get it I am curious as to how you will make it work on a US network...By the way what Network will you be usining it on?

Posted by: shibby-jw

Hey, I was wondering, does the 6265i only come in black, I've seen it in silver and black all over the internet, but telus says there is only a black version. Where would one get the silver coloured one?

Posted by: whothis

^ It only came in black for TELUS and you may get the Silver coloured one in the US when e
