You don't deserve to be helped! Zero efforts with zero patience and wanna be spoon-fed everything? What kinda attitude? Try to refund and use something works in your way out of the box... if Telus acutally gets one

Tell 'im Steve-Dave!

Sorry I couldn't resist..

Interesting thing I noticed, haven't seen it posted. When the phone starts up or shuts down, hitting "end" will immediately turn the phone off so you don't have to see the Telus Future is friendly animation, and hitting it after "Nokia" at startup skips the hands and Telus animations. I know some don't like that they are there and short of changing them completely at least they can be skipped. Also, if you hit the menu button before the phone UI is fully loading you can watch the Nokia icons get replaced by the Telus ones like some kind of virus.

that's very good.. but the nokia icons do not stay on eh?

Posted by: anachronism

No they're all there and then they get blinked out by the Telus icons one at a time. They aren't there for very long but I thought it was unusual that they'd show up even briefly. At one point I got a screen that asked me to set the phones time zone and then it went to the regular standby screen but that only happened once, seems that the Telus overlay is a bit quirky.

anachronism / ice1124,

Why bother wasting efforts on something not permanate? I have explained in details just pages ago in this very thread!

YES! MobiMB sets you Free!

Posted by: ice1124

Just got it to work, thank you!!!
What else can I do with MobiMB? Is it able to allow me to use regular mp3s for ringtones and/or make "Camera Sound" setting visible?

Posted by: HC - NO "i"

ice1124,

I will only tell you ONE more time: START S T U D Y I N G and STOP S K I P P I N G words / posts / pages !!! http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...04&page=1&pp=15

No pain, No gain!

I've read the entire thread, I didn't post my observation because I didn't already know the work around, I thought it was interesting to see happpen and certainly it had nothing to do with trying to eliminate the Telus icons. As well, I have a Mac (and not a new one that will run Windows XP) so MobiMB won't work for me but I understand how to alter the phone.

anachronism,

Perhaps, I have not clarified: Programs like MobiMB and Oxygen Phone Manager has capabilities to RESET the start-up / shut-down tones and carrier's logo screen (animated / static). And, when you delete the file, theme_lock.xml, the TELUS-rized start-up / shut-down tones and screens will also be eliminated.

As for the unfortunate situation with Mac user like youself, I am sorry to hear that choices are so limited. I guess, many of us in the world still ignore the Mac users when comes to apps. Try to contact a fellow member, The Mac Ace, http://www.howardforums.com/member.php?u=77270 He is quite resourceful with Mac OS and Nokia compatibility topics.

Good luck.

Thanks.

I'll see what I can find out.

What version of Mobimb are you guys using? i tried 3.2 from the website and it seemed to work fine (trial), but then i tried another 3.2 (downloaded) and it work the same way on my phone. Actually it detected the phone but it had no expansion for it........it also showed nokia RM-66 (which i assume is firmware). Does anyone have any ideas?

The screenshots I have captured for the de-TELUS-rized Main Menu Icons / Start-up / Shut-down guide, shows the otherwise with the Full Version 3.2. You can ask LogoManager for technical support. And, as I have always suggested: it works relatively more reliable with data cables than IrDA or Bluetooth connections.

Thanks for the info; on the plus side i AM using a datacable and neither infrared or bluetooth to connect to MobiMB.

I used bluetooth (cable is still coming..) to eliminate the Telus icons with MobiMB. The bluetooth works much better than it usually does with Nokia PC Suite.

If anyones looking for a cheap (about 12 bucks) cable in toronto pm me, i found a small chinese store that sells em and they are confirmed (by me) to work well with this phone. I'll avoid spamming so you can pm me if you need details!

manlyputter,

The fact is that after-market / knock-off CA-53 or DKU-2 can be easily found because many Nokia GSM models are using it. Unlike CA-42 or DKU-5 with circuits required for serial port emulation / conversion inside, CA-53 and DKU-2 is much straight-forward and simple.

I have already confirmed the DKU-2 compatibility with my first-hand experience as well as a fellow member has confirmed with his connections at Nokia about the difference between CA-53 and DKU-2: THEY ARE ELECTRICALLY THE SAME! Just CA-53 is certified for RoHS directive with no harmful material / component used. Read more at http://207.210.82.131/showthread.php?t=832865

It is a good news for you to share the source of getting the cable. Happy Hacking, everyone!

Posted by: manlyputter

HC - NO "i", thats great news, then i'll post the source. His name is Arthur and he owns a little cellphone shop on brimley and sheppard, alot of the time his shop is run by an old man (sometimes an old woman is there). If you ask him for the CA-53 cable he will know exactly what you're talking about. His shop is called Phoenix wireless and it's on the main floor somewhat diagonal from the rogers store! Oh also this place is a great mall to find knockoff dvd's, there must be 10 dvd stores just in this one place!

manlyputter,

I suggest fellow members to try malls / shops in Markham, Richmond Hill as well. IF they have no idea of CA-53, ask for DKU-2 may yield more results.

Posted by: Deusfaux

Diego just freezes upon starting it up and I cant get anywhere.

someone please give me full instructions including what to do with the cable and the phone and computer and software.

I have 6265i (telus)
DKU-2 3rd party cable from ebay and its CD with a folder of Nokia PC suite and DKU-2 drivers
pc is xp sp2 etc etc.
I also got the download of the latest version of Nokia PC suite (6.8 and apparently it includes the latest DKU drivers...)

I've tried uninstalling diego and everything else, then reintalling it, cracking it, rebooting, not rebooting, plugging in the cable, not plugging in cable. I dont know the exact order of what to do here. The cable/phone have never been recognized by the PC. only as an unknown device

Posted by: HC - NO "i"

Deusfaux,

You MUST uninstall the Nokia DKU-2 driver that you have / attempted to install first. I recommend you to uninstall the Nokia PC Suite as well. Be careful of uninstalling the wrong version though. In the Add / Remove program, you can check the version by "Click here for more support information" if you have the Connectivity Driver listed there.

Then resinstall the Diego. The newer version like 3.08 should come with the newer version of cable drivers that is sufficient for the objectives, even though it is not necessarily the latest (6.8 or 6.11).

Posted by: Deusfaux

sadly i already did that. in fact, i didnt try to install the standalone driver or PC suite until after the diego stuff.

ive removed them completely as far as i can see, rebooted several times inbetween these steps, and reinstalled diego (and even the latest 3.08 one)... it just stops responding on the splash screen. :S

gahh

I have that problem when my BT dongle is plugged in. Unplug it and I'm good to go again.

How do you remove the telus icons with mobimb?

Posted by: Kilumnati

ok i deleeted thos files for themes.. now when i change themes all my icons change except SHOP and CAMERA they stay small default.. why???

Posted by: AloneInACrowd

Just curious about the whole icon reset, and I havn't seen it posted. But I like the default background look after the phone is reset, yet it's not a specified theme so if I turn the phone off it removes all the settings. Is it possible to use this background if possible?

Also my phone since the hack now reboots randomly, is anyone else experiencing this issue? Is it related to the fact that I'm not using a theme?

Posted by: Deusfaux

but i still cant get this damn cable to make my phone recognizable on any computer. (or any other nokia phone ive tried)

someone in the edmonton area know where i could just try another DKU2 cable or something to ultimately blame the one i have for the source of failure?

im calling OMega cell tomorrow to see if they have any...

anyone find out about the ear piece volume guys..cause it really annoying ...?

Howard (or someone) was going to check with their 'Nokia engineer' contacts and see what the 'equalizer'-style settings were, accessible through mobimb if memory serves...

AloneInACrowd,

As I have told in my de-TELUS-rized Main Menu Icons guide, you have to choose a theme OTHER than the TELUS-rized "default" theme - even if you have elminated the theme_lock.xml.

So to keep the standard Nokia Basic Series 40 3rd Edition theme applied, you are better to load one in your 6265i like I do:

http://ca.geocities.com/mail4howi/N...3Ed_240x320.zip

Remember to S T A Y away from the TELUS-rized Default theme from now on.

Hubris,

It is a bunch of Audio tuning paramters yet to be understood. Stay put and I try to find out what they are.

Woah thanks, sorry I completely didn't see that part. I read it over a few times and I guess it didn't process in my brain. Thanks kindly for the pointer to the theme! Much appriciated

Kilumnati,

Even after you cycle the power (power off then on again)?

Posted by: rrradford

Does anyone know of anywhere in the Lower Mainland to buy any "confirmed to work" Nokai 6265i cables so I can avoid Ebay? Specifically in Surrey/Langey, but further would be okay as well.

Posted by: Deusfaux

can the CA-53 be used in place of the DKU-2 ?

I can get the former here locally as my knock off DKU is NOT working (from ebay)

Posted by: CBProd

i finally got my usb cable today, im having problems unistalling the nokia drivers, keep getting a message saying "hardware installation wizard is open..." i had diego and nokia pc suite installed before tried to get it work thru the bluetooth. does anyone know a way i can get rid of the drivers and install the diego from scratch. i got deigo running fine on my bros computer though.

Posted by: HC - NO "i"

Deusfaux... http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=832865

CBProd... I suggest you keep ONLY one driver installed at any give time. The problem is that Diego has come with the driver, so as the PC Suite! But, they may not have the same version. This causes the problem. I have the exact problem in the past but luckily I have all the driver files around. To fix your problem, I recommend you to UNINSTALL BOTH PC Suite and Diego first. Then reinstall the Diego, PC Suite the NEXT. Has to be in right order (unless you are sure your Diego is newer like 3.08 than the PC Suite)

Does anyone know of a location that sells the CA-53 in the GVA?

I know that I can order one off of eBay but I really don't want to go that route, even if it might be cheaper.

My DKU-2 knockoff just arrived today. I bought it on ebay 2 weeks ago and FINALLY came. Oh well, it came with a car charger and a travel charger for 10 bucks including shipping (obviously the items werent OEM nokia stuff)

Kilumnati,

Look, please help me to understand:

* Are you talking about the Camera / Shop icons are "NOKIA" style or "TELUS-rized" style?

If you are referring to NOKIA style, it is absolutely normal because most Series 40 3rd Edition 240 x 320 themes around is slightly different from 6265i where it has different memory locations and IDs to store those icons. Unless you edit the themes.ini file accordingly to point the particular icons to those in themes_setup folder

If you are referring to the TELUS-rized icons, then read http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...402#post7520402

the shop/ camera are Nokia style NOT telus-resized sytle...

Has anybody figured out a hack to get rid of the SHOP hard/soft key on the 6265i?

(and yes, I did try searching before posting this but I've been finding it increasingly more difficult to find relavent search results here).

i think you can change it in diego

'SoN][c',

Regarding the TELUS-rized SHOP right "Hard-key", it sounds like easy to deal with the PRI settings. However, like the earpiece volume / audio tuning parameter, these are complex parameters! There are many things have to change to make back it where it should be... "Names" by Nokia's default.

I am now comparing the PRI of the Proto, which has NO TELUS-rized SHOP "Hard-key" and see if I could implement the difference into the release version.

Posted by: Hubris

Periodically the significant items are put into the FAQ.....otherwise you have to read through the ~15 pages of the 2 review threads, the hacking thread, the bugs thread etc. The FAQ is probably the first place to check.

Yes but Diego is just a Nokia proprietary tool to provide the access to this programmable parameters, NOT a magic wand like many may think. You have to understand which PRI settings / parameters are responsible to which customization items.

Posted by: whothis

From the way things are going I think we need a 6265i Q&A thread.

Anyone able to send me the Default.nth file? Via email or something would be great, if someone could PM and offer to send me it I'll respond ASAP with my email.

Posted by: HC - NO "i"

AloneInACrowd,

First, there is a difference between the TELUS-rized "Default" theme file and Nokia "Basic" theme file.

I do not know if one could actually delete the Default.nth in the TELUS-rized 6265i at all! You are the first person then. Could you explain in details how to achieve that amazing work? Seriously, it is my ultimate dream to get rid of the TELUS-rized "Default.nth"!

Read the post in Page 16 of this very same thread:

http://207.210.82.131/showthread.ph...322#post7514322

Posted by: AloneInACrowd

I uh removed the two files, had it set to the nokia theme, then just went into the themes via the phone, highlighted default.nth and selected delete. It then deleted the file.

I need it again so if it's possible can you send me it?

Oh, I see. When the TELUS-rized "Default" theme is not active, then you can delete it off the 6265i! Now, I get it. Anyway, PM me your email address then.

Is "Default" theme required? Would you then have to rename another theme to Default so that it is still on the phone?

Maybe under certain conditions it looks for that theme... ie if you do a factory reset on the phone or something?

'SoN][c',

I have deleted mine but simply rename the Nokia's very own "Basic" them as "Default".

Kilumnati,

I cannot help if you do not even bother to read through the pages. I have explained those.

I have diego 3.06 and a cable that says ca-53 on it and I'm not able to get it working. getting the no dongle error from diego. I've tried reinstalling multiple times.
any suggestions??

Posted by: Moderator HF 25

Please note:

Diego and Phoenix are Nokia proprietary service tools required special dongles and cables to run. It also requires license, permission, authorization from Nokia. There're always people cracking/hacking it. However, HowardForums.com doesn't encourage such activities that may lead to legal liabilities. So if you want to crack/hack these proprietary programs of Nokia, you're on your own and take this matter elsewhere.

I've also been following the development through out several threads in several forums - Telus, Verizon and now here. You gotta have the patience. The author has replied you in the page 17 of this thread -> http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...749#post7522749 If you haven't spent the efforts to digest, that's too bad to miss it.

This kind of spoon-fed behaviour must stop here. For this reason, this thread will be closed for the moment. It's keep getting divided by people with different levels of understanding: some are way too far ahead of the game while some still need to learn all the fundametals. After 18 pages and moved from one forum to here, the real deal of "hacking" discussion is only contributions from a few.

Consider it a little time-out for everyone: so others can spend time to read through pages of ideas between the lines and links while waiting for some new hacking ideas to be shared.
