Compusa - New National Retailer

So compusa has started to carry cingular for the past few weeks. Our initial launch rocked tossing out tons of phones, however compusa likes to now make our wireless activations ULTRA GAY.

and this is why

1. We can only do 2year activations now and not 1 years.
2. Upgrades cost $75 more for each phone, than a new activation
3. with family plans the first phone counts as a new activation, and phones 2-5 count as an upgrade.

just needed to vent

how much are you guys selling the 8125 for?

this explains why Cingular just upped the minimums on the smaller exclusive dealers. Bastards

That's a rip-off if you mean the customer has to pay a higher price for phones 2-5. I hope the customers price compare and complain.

If you mean your commission is lower well that's bad too I guess.

Yes, but you have to take in consideration that CompUSA is one of, if not THE worst retail outlets to work for.

BTW: In case you havn't heard you guys are in for another (surpise surprise) pay cut.

About 3 years ago it wasn't uncommon for a good sales rep to make around $60,000 at CompUSA. Now you are hard pressed to make $25,000.

Cingular is out to do away with small dealers and basically the indirect channel all together. We sell B2B and our commissions have been cut so that we basically can not sell a phone and make money any more after we have to take a hit on commissions to match phone pricing. We used to get $140 per phone and Cingular would ship the phone to the customer and bill it directly to the end user, now we have to buy the Razor for $225 and then we have to reduce the price by $75 to meet the SRP, so we are out $50 then we have to pay our reps and what do we make, $50?? BS, bye Cingular hello Tmobile and Sprint.

we dont sell the 8125, just the 8700 blackberry, the SLVR, and black and silver RAZR's.

the pricing on them is awesome with new activations so if its a single new activation it rocks.

49.99 for RAZR + $50 rebate prints out even though our pricing doesnt show it
199.99 for the blackberry
99.99 for the SLVR, but it goes on sale for 69-79.99. our initial cingular launch we were offering it for 29.99 with a free H3 headset

Cingular won't get a lot of activations out of COMPUSA. Those are one of those deals that looks good on paper, but in reality, it won't significantly increase the bottom line. When I was in Indirect, I called on two COMPUSAs. Total waste of time. You were lucky to talk to one employee...because there were like two employees for the whole store. And it was evident that their focus wasn't in wireless.

not true, in the past 3 weeks ive done activations, my cingular ones have WAY outweighed my tmob/spring ones. we would get more except we dont have any "free" offers for cingular phones so those cheap customers go for the other carriers.
