Long time HoFoer - first time here. (Didn't even know this forum existed til someone in the T-Mo forum directed me.)

Don't know why I waited for VOIP. Made LOTS of calls last week on the line and all were clear as a landline. Most calls to a 3rd world country (Costa Rica) were almost as good as local calls.

Main reason I picked them was, that unlike the others I checked (Vonage, SR, Packet8) they allow forwarding to intl. numbers. I haven't yet learned the 1001 features that are available.

If I didn't have DSL, i'd get rid of the landline altogether. Right now it is only used for DSL and outging fax.

Lingo has been slowly removing some of its features and offerings I think. Ever since they didn't meet the 911 coverage criteria, I believe they stopped accepting subscribers in certain areas. Good luck to you with the service. I looked into them before I signed up with SunRocket, but SunRocket just offers more for less, so I went with them. Anyways, good luck.

I've had Lingo for about 2 yrs now. No issues with 911 service. Nonetheless what won me over was the fact that I could call anywhere in the US and Western Europe for a flat fee of $20. This was way more then the more popular Vonage or SunRocket had to offer. I bought 2 Lingo boxes at the time one of which I sent to friends in Amsterdam and the other in the states. They were able to make calls to the states and me for that same flat fee.

Before VOIP I was paying SBC Ameritech about $95 after taxes for nationwide/feature rich plans and spent about $200 in international phone bills with a separate carrier. Couldn't have made a better choice.

So in all these VOIP services LINGO truly has offered the most for the buck. If anyone has made calls to Europe you'll understand that it's an arm an a leg. Even those cheap intl rates quoted for pennies a minute that these other companies offer will add up if you have family and loved ones over there. But to extend the plan coverage to major cities in Europe is unbeatable. Most Vonage owners tell me "well i don't know anyone in Europe to call". That's besides the point. The bottom line is that it offers you that flexibility with no additional cost. I have never seen another company include major cities outside of the North/South American continents in their plans for this price in my lifetime.
