Anyone lose signal with 8125 after driving a few miles?

So I have been able to repeat this problem. I noticed it just started happening in the last 2 months or so.

Scenerio:

I turn my phone off (or screen off), start driving say 3+ miles. When I get out of my car, I turn my phone back on. Then I notice the EDGE icon has a X and the signal bar has a X. It then proceeds for about 5-10 seconds finding a signal pretty quickly.

Now I know for a fact that during this time when the phone is off, I am unable to get calls because it doesn't look for a signal until I turn the phone on. This is a pretty big problem as this obviously shouldn't be normal. Anyone else experience this?

I currently have the standard 64K sim, didn't get the 3G yet.

I am having that problem as well. But my signal doesn't come back that quick. Some times I have to soft reset the phone to get the signal back. Been getting worse. It is becoming a real PITA.

Sometimes on my 2125 when I am leaving work for my 45 mile commute, I have been able to determine that the phone hangs on the tower at my work and does not switch as I drive home. It did this last night, actually. I can tell it is still looking for that tower by a program I have installed called CPS Configuration. I have been meaning to contact Cingular about it, but I do not know if it is a phone issue or a tower issue. My guess would be phone since that tower is obviously not in control of my phone by the time I drive 45 miles.

Anyone still experience this? I am and it is really annoying.

Not I am experiencing alarm problems. Alarm does not sound until I turn the phone on. I almost missed my flight last night.

Any know what the return policy is for cingular?

I have the same problem....but so does everyone else; you can tell by the number of threads that currently exist talking about the issues with the 8125.

I wish there was a setting like there was in the motorola triplets series under Settings > Network > Speed (or something like that...I'm traveling and don't have my v400 on me). That menu fixed a lot of problems for me, as switiching from the default "normal" to "fast" cleared up many of my problems in fringe areas...the phone would hop from tower to tower more efficiently it seemed both during a call and during periods of less-than-perfect service. "continuous" was an even better setting in that regard, but it ate my battery like a *****.

But none of that explains the phenomenon of having 4 bars, and then looking at it watching it drop to 0 and search for a signal for about a minute, and then find the same tower and go back to 4. The amount of time it takes to search for a tower are unacceptable and the reasons it decides to search for a new tower are many times inexplicable.

Someone needs to come out with a better radio ROM for this damn thing...
