LG 'CHOCOLATE' KG800 Wallpaper Size?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: newcombe6

Hi there everyone

does anyone know the correct wallpaper size for the chocolate phone? ive got most of my wallpapers from this forum in the samsung and panasonic threads - but when i load these on my LG - there are white bars vertically along each side of the image?

its annoying on a phone that is so sleak and black and they dont appear on the defualt wallpapers?

or is there a setting ive missed somewhere to stretch the image across the screen?

any help would be great

cheers

Hi,

You need to save wallpaper images as 176x220 pixels, 72dpi

Cheers

I don't know about the 8000, but on the 8500, which should be about the same, I've found that the images look best if you don't resize them at all. I put a full resolution jpeg from digital blasphemy as my background and it look edWAY sweeter(no pixelation) than it did when i resized/resampled it with infanview. it took a second to load at first but once it is loaded it doesn't slow anything down at all.

When i put stuff in through bitpim, it automatically resized the pic to a pretty small file (17 kb), and the pic doesn't fill the whole background--it ends up with a border around it. I'm resizing to the correct resolution (176 x 200), but it still does it.

BitPim seems to automatically resize images... probably because I'm using the VX8300
setting since BitPim doesn't support the VX8500 yet. Hopefully when it does, it'll have
the option of not resizing it.

If you search around I read something about holding SHIFT ( I think? ) to disable resizing of images in bitpim

That's a good tip, I'll try it, although last night I put a large image on through the file manager, and the phone wouldn't recognize it. Said it was too large.

The LG KG800 comes with resizing software for backgrounds. Connect using the LG Contents Bank software, and you can take any picture, scale it to whatever size you want, and take whatever portion of the resultant image to upload to your handset. It was designed for the very thing you are talking about.

if you dont want resizing, you can put the pictures on a Micro Card and then under gallery, set them as your Wallpaper and I see no resizing.

My question is, when I set Video's as my background though, i dont get full screen while their animated backgrounds or vids, whatever they might be are full screen

So i looked on LG's website and saw them boasting a 240x320 display rsolution. Using photoshop a created a grid so Icould easily count the pixels, then made it my wallapaper. according to my count, the screen is only 120 pixels wide. I double and tripple checked my count. it's 120. i didn't count how high it was because my eyes hurt. point is, the lg site is wrong... i've tried many different sizes... nothing has worked. even 176x220 at 72 dpi. i'm using photoshop, saving as a jpg file at maximum quality. nothing so far.

120x168 is also a standard screen resolution

I have tried 240 x320, 280 x320 ,240 x 275 240x280 no matter what i do it always has white side bars on all the pictures. i have tried transferring in the bitpim gui and both just tapping shift then add. and also holding shift then add. I also tried directly dropping them through the filesystem. no matter what it always has white bars just the width of the white bar varies.

its probably a simple solution and yes i have been doing some searching and have had no conclusive solutions. Thanks in advance

i made some wallpapers for my gf and the right size is a square of 320X320 pixels.

245 pixels high by 240 pixels wide.

Fills the screen when reviewing pictures and when used for a wallpaper.

I did a bunch of tests and a 240 wide X 275 high image size for wallpaper worked great on my LG VX8500.

did those sizes for the new chocolate and still got white lines

Posted by: smokinbonz

Im not sure if anyone is getting confused here but I was. My big mistake when i first got the chocolate was that i was only viewing previews.

my previews would show white lines but if i set those as a wallpaper they were fine. Hope this helps someone.

Download wallpapers in three sizes on your pc 128x160, 220x176, 320x240

I have an LG CHOCOLATE KG800
It took me ages to find the correct wallpaper size, but eventually i found it and, yes, it actually works.
265 x 330 PIXELS
Worked for me fine
Hope it helps...

I tried all the sizes you guys wrote here. Is it normal that the pic is pixelated a little? I never got any white border, my only problem is the quality of the pic.

Posted by: JP@U1

320x366 works perfectly, leaves a tiny (like 2 pixels) border on top and bottom to separate your pic from your status and menu bars.

Posted by: mightyboi

Ok, I had this problem too, and with your help guys, and a little twigging, the PERFECT size is actually 265 x 332. This leaves NONE of those annoying little white strips at all, even if they are only 1 or 2 pixels across the top or side.
As for the resolution, in photoshop I simply doubled the pixels ratio and it works fine, as long as you keep the ratio exactly the same (eg, triple..)
The only thing that stinks now for me is that the phone can't handle large images - to open or as wallpaper - oh and no loudspeaker, but dems the breaks...

Come on dude, the point of this tread is to Remove the white lines. not keep them there.

ps 240x275 works for my vx8500
