cingular mini usb headphone adapter TOO LOUD (slvr)

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

just bought this adaptor and with my headphones it is SO LOUD! The quality is good, but i have a pair of high end in ear headphones and the sound is simply too loud even at the lowest setting.. i wish there was a setting for a lower volume. what are my choices?

I tried the volume gain editing tool but 1. i wasnt able to produce a noticeable change, 2. its set at gain 1 by default for most items - doubt volume 0 would make much of a change.

Do I have to rerip songs that go on the slvr at a lower volume gain via itunes?

Is there any kind of 3.5mm pass through adapter that can just lower gain? I realize its dumb to amplify via mini usb adapter cable then deamp but its so loud!

hmm....

Look at Xlr8's seem map and you want to change the wired headset gains/offsets. Do a search on here or at MotoX.info in the V3i section for "Ideal gain table" and you should find all the information you need.

i have tried the gain table editor, but it seems none of the settings affect the volume on the mini usb headphone jack.

they definately affect other parts of the phone volume because i notice a volume change, so it is working (partially?)

any idea on why none of the gains seem to affect the mini usb adapter?

im using pk2 advanced editor 5515

you could try using a higher impedance headphones even though they may not be of the same quality of your better ones, at least you wont go deaf

yikes, i'd rather go with the radio shack 4" cable with volume control knob. i didn't spend 200 bucks on headphones not to use them

or i can just go back to the nano :-/

any ideas why the gain tables don't seem to work for the mini usb connection?

Because it isn't changing the right things. Change the wired gain by hand using xvi32 or another hex editor.

Check this: http://xlr8.us/hofo/map.txt.

Thanks K but I think I tried the appropriate items according to that list

master gain control and "wired headset mp3/midi/video gain affects multimedia, mp3, and midi sounds coming out of a wired headset when connected (includes midi/mp3 tones, video playback)" all have no effect on the mini usb jack.

what would be great is if itunes would offer their usual equalizer in this mobile version....

did anyone have success modifying those variables and actually getting a result? it seems like I can affect the wired headset keypad sound (that goes up and down, if i remember correctly) but anything I play via Itunes is always at the same volume

i bought that radioshack cable - quality is still good and it does the trick. the only drawback is that it's a little ghetto that i a daisy chain of 3 connections...

the usb jack, volume control, and headphones.

better yet!!

searching around i see the ultimate ears super hi 5 pros (that i use) come with a sound dampener or whatever you want to call it. it has the picture of an airplane on it.

- it's one solid piece, not a long wire so its much less annoying.
- its not adjustable but it lowers the volume considerably.

this is perfect!

Did you set the master gain for the wired head set as well...There are 2 different settings in the table....maybe the master will do it for you...
