people who need to be fired.....

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Alfred_Neuman

list them here guys

i will say this:

Mr. James Richards, ARSM of the northern VA market under the WASHINGTON/BALTIMORE market.

-he took over as my arsm in the winter/spring of 2005 until i left in may of 2006. he has only been to my store maybe 3 times in 1.5 years, almost TWO years.

-i seriously doubt the moron goes to the HQ of our market to visit his office, as 99.9% of his e-mails are always Blackberry forwards.

-he can't handle issues himself. he rushes things just to get them done( like the hiring of the assistant manager who left a week later in the tysons store).

-you're either his buddy, or he hates you (atleast in his mind). if you're not in his good side, forget anything from him.

after i called him out on his "crappy" effort he put in to resolve the issue at my store, all i got was a hissy fit and blame ME for it (and said nothing like i mentioned to him EVER happens under his watch....EVER, yet i see it all the time).

ok, now i said mine. what about you guys? oh believe me, my new job is 40000x better. im 100% commission, but i make so much more than selling phones and i dont get *****ed at 24/7 and my manager is awsome and so far the benefits from the companies we sell (ski trips, bonus, etc) are as well!

karma had its way of payin me back.......in a good way

Where do you work now? Sounds like a great place.

Posted by: anubis9278

i have a list but if i post it...i'm gone so not now but soon.

my "s" list speaks volumes from CS to Sales to the billionaires.

Anubis's end game coming 2008.

Alfred, stop complaining about Jimmy, he is better than most of the former Blue ARSM... And you know who I'm talking about.

the customers needs to be fired.

ive met some blue arsms.

dinunzio is a good guy. id have him over richards.

i still miss tom norris as our arsm. i know id be with cingular if he stayed around in our area.

i know for a fact every single ARSM and SM feel the same way as i do.

granted a few for a perhaps different reason, but the consensus is the same.

Posted by: Gman-2006

I agree Dinunzio is very good and Tom Norris is also a good ARSM, but I think the problem is the Director. I don't think she has a clue on how to run a market like DC/Balt/NVA. She came from NC and they are no where near what this market is. Rob also deserves some of the blame for being too loyal and near sighted in his approach.

rob isnt going to last too long.

they just dont know how to fix this market up. atleast rob forsythe is better than the previous guy (his name keeps slipping my mind).

but yes, the new director sucks. Too bad the previous one went to the indirect channel.

Posted by: Gman-2006

The old VP was Frank Iovino and he is now running the Master Agent Simply Wireless. He came aboard I think back in November, right after he quit Cingular.

I also just found out that DC/BALT/VA Market has two retail sales directors, one handling Balt and the other one NVA/DC.

Michelle Richards was very good at her job and now she is the only director for National retail with in the whole company.

I understand the frustrations you went through but it goes around in circles for Cingular as I have become accustomed to.

Posted by: Alfred_Neuman

between richards not allowing me to transfer within his region and the crap going on in my store, i had enough of it.

frank got essentially fired. too much of his crap really.

i cant believe franks running simply. LOL. he fits more with the mobile solutions i say.

cingular did me a favor in letting me decide to leave. i found something better and more enjoyable. no worries bout ss,features, accessories, etc.

if the itch ever returns for wireless, i'll hit up t-mobile. the people who made my job fun are gone from the store. those who made it the stereotypical store of inept people are the ones who run it.

Posted by: Alfred_Neuman

oh and go figure.......i leave the company and p0w, the issues with not being able to make a call, busy signal, dropped calls all hit me in this time frame.

Posted by: TheBui

tom norris is my arsm, he is a great guy to work with.

Posted by: Alfred_Neuman

he is a great guy who does show up to his stores for visits.

we would see his white mdx pass us and we always got told to quit smoking in front of the store lol.

That has to be one of the longest sentences I have ever seen. At least you used line breaks to separate most of it. I do agree with you on the advertising. The worst part was they didnt even show the phones being used.. they just showed the outside of the houses as the lights turn off and people say goodnight. For all the person watching knows, they were just making regular phone calls and saying goodnight... riveting. They need to focus on the younger people and the instant messenger meets phone aspect. The selection of phones that are currently offered do not help either.

A PTT RAZR would do wonders.

Yes, a PTT RAZR would sell like hotcakes. If PTT had more features it would also be easier to sell. Samsung had a good idea with their first PTT, by adding BT. Sadly BT alone won't sell a phone, it helps, but we need more features. We finally have camera PTT's, but still feature poor. I want a Razr with PTT, iTunes, 2mp camera with flash, and an SD slot. Is this to much to ask for.

P.S.
I am capable of correctly punctuating my sentences, I just choose not to.

Posted by: Gman-2006

Ask and you shall receive:

Just heard but not verified yet that a new PDA with the PTT reature is being tested in Bellevue, WA and that it might become available sometime in 4Q.

I think that the agent that added roadside, 200 msg, voice dial and lockline to a brand new business account for 32 lines needs to be fired. The lady who was in charge of the account was not happy, but was very polite. All she wanted was to have them removed, which I did for her.

She asked me if she did the wrong thing by going to an agent. I said, No, there was not a problem with going to one, but that we have a business care department that could have set everything up for her over the phone. I also advised that some corp stores may have a dedicated business rep or would be able to direct her to one.

I want a Samsung d807 with a 4 gig hard drive, itunes, sirius radio, picks up not only quad mode gsm but tri mode cdma too and ptt.

I would also like my bill to be $9.99 a month and free mobile to mobile and night and weekends...wouldn't use the anytime minutes. I'd also want rollover text messages and rollover ptt minutes.

NOW, would that be too much to ask for? (I think so)

Posted by: didefresh2006

I got an idea:

The Cingular "I paid too much for my phone on a new 2 year contract and I need some relief from it all" plan:

For $9.99 a month you get

100 rollover ptt minutes
100 rollover anytime minutes
free c2c minutes
free n&w
unlimited rollover text messages
The dreaded data package: unlimited data for $99.99 a month

The phone:

The Treo 70(1)--5.0 megapixel camera
Windows XP PROFESSIONAL
Microsoft Office
30 gig hard drive
ipod
ptt
almost like your laptop but 1/20th of the size

All for $1999.00 only at your cingular store.

Calvin Oliver.

Any of you that have had him know what I mean.

Oh, and Chris Pelesky moved back from Amsterdam, in case anyone was curious.

Posted by: at&t_hitman

Wow, is this a Baltimore-Washington hate fest? You guys are pretty harsh. You're blaming directors and ARSMs, but sometimes you've either gotta look in the mirror or within your own store management.

I'm not bleeding orange or being an apologist. I just am amazed that almost every ARSM and director in this market has been named. Amazed. Because we have it the same as just about every other market. But only Washington-Baltimore is getting trashed. Everyone, everywhere feels the same. I'm totally cereal.

Excelsior!

Posted by: Alfred_Neuman

while i agree my new co-workers suck, richards is more or less an ahole and deserves to be fired.

what has he done? nothing. he doesnt do a thing at all. i mean hell he would never go to your store, unless someone higher up does to cover his behind. i know other arsms are not like that.

oh well. im off to the big red machine to become a technician. less pay but whole hell of a lot better work enviroment

Posted by: Alfred_Neuman

well to work inside the big red machine... not for them

I'd hold out for a sales position.

Oh, wait...

As to it being a washington/baltimore hatefest, we had some ****** ARSMs. There were some cool ones - Pelesky was the man, and I've heard nothing but good things about dinunzio and norris, already mentioned in this thread. Calvin ended up in his current area as a last resort -- he had so many HR complaints about how he treats his employees that he was on the verge of losing his job, but he was buddies with Iovino and got moved with a final warning to loosen up.

Michelle Richards was also pretty badass.

Did anyone in this forum ever have Mike Parks as a manager?

Posted by: Symbian_Black

Every Call Center Manager needs to either re-train the Reps or Get themselves retrained or go work for Helio.

You can train someone all that you want, but you cannot change the way that person is going to work. The most that you can do is mentor them when it's time for their monthly review, and if they continue to fail, you let them go.

Keep in mind that managers may have never been on the phones, or they have been off the phone for years. Also, their job is to manage the call center, and they do not have the time to take any of the training courses. All they know is that there are changes in the program, but not the meat of the chages until they may do a callback for an escalation.

Posted by: at&t_hitman

Suicidal, and Alfred. Looking back at this thread, perhaps I owe you both a second thought and apology. My attempt at being loyal and thoughtful in the end only displayed what a blind puppet I was.

Sadly, the market we're from is indeed troubled as you've related. Instead of dwelling on my own sad story I simply decided to move on. PM for details if you really want them.

For those reading this, at&t is indeed a troubled company. I'm not going to blast any specific individual, because lord knows I am not perfect. But, it is easy to bear witness to facts availible to everyone.

at&t is not as profitible or successful as they would like. Verizon has pounded them in every single quarter since purchase.

Washington/Baltimore in specific is performing very poorly, and a large part of it is local management, which includes myself until recently. I would not advise anyone with any serious goals, talent or potential to consider at&t as a possible career.

Posted by: Alfred_Neuman

wow, old thread.

i've long since been gone from cingular.

a lot of me has changed since i left cingular. The biggest change in me was i simply did not want to move up the chain for any company anymore. i wanted to live more. since ive left, ive had some offers pop up for jobs, but they failed in the end.

in a sense i am a lot happier, but at the same time i miss the 2004-2005 days at cingular.

do i take back what i said in this thread? not one bit. do i hold a grudge out still? not really.

hell im happier working at the local bowling ally than when i was late 05-06 for cingular.

i think its ok in the northern va area, but could use more. the problem with us is that the west va/va market (consists of south federicksburg) sucks, since it was an aquisition. cingular hever had roots in southern va, and a lot of kids/ppl from the dc area go to school or work/travel to the southern parts down there (va beach, richmond, norfolk, blacksburg, etc).

The network here in the Northeast is probably one of Cingular's strongest. Connecticut is able to advertise that they have the most reliable network, and we are still harping on that fewest dropped calls thing. In reality, unless you have a TDMA phone, or some POS from 2003-2004 (like an LG 1300), then the network is very strong. The reputation of Cingular out here has undergone a drastic change for the better over the last 2 1/2 years or so, and that has definitely helped business. Also, it depends on the actual phone, too (as if you didn't already know that). The LG cu-400 has been a solid performer, as has the V3xx and the Sony w-810 (in terms of RF). Meanwhile, the Samsung A-707 has stunk the place up, as has the c-417. So the network's "perceived" quality has alot to do with the equipment, and it is our jobs as salespeople to sell what works, and NOT what Cingular wants us to sell (in most cases...since they oftentimes seem to promote the worst phone in the lineup). That's why I like being independent (an Agent), I don't have to tow the company line and sell what they are pushing.

To get back to the original topic:

Mystery Shoppers need to get fired.

A group of people who were too lazy to either a) ever finish high school or b) to fill out a 10 minute application to my store...since right now we would pretty much hire ANYONE.! Do they realize how much they contribute to the ruin of the quality of my work life?

Posted by: edmund

^mystery shops ended last month I thought? I know in our market they did.

Although I heard some BS at one point about being secret shopped about the iPhone...

Secret shoppers have been canceled nation wide. My friend's mother is a secret shopper and has been doing for some time. Maybe not for cingular, but at other places. She did complete high school and retired after working at the same company for about 40 years. She also helps out at some activity center as her husband passed away and she hates being idol.

Posted by: hatebreeder

Perhaps that was rather harsh, I admit, but working for an agent, we get shopped so that cingular can determine how much money we get for advertising. So its appropriate that we do get shopped, but our script for mystery shoppers is absolutely ridiculous, and its very difficult offer data features to a shopper who says, "I'm just looking for a basic phone?"
