Is all hybrid firmware the same ?

I have kept the link with the different types of firmware, but the contents of the hybrid firmware are not mentioned.
Can the hybrid version be customised or is it the same mixture of things on all phones with that firmware ?
I would like to pick up a 903 very soon and like the Jap FW simply because of the fullscreen wallpaper, does the hybrid FW let you have full screen wallpaper ?
How can I find out what you can and can not do with hybrid FW ?

I believe its the same mixture. Not sure about the wallpaper.

There's a thread somewhere in this forum which contains Jerry Kee's summaries of each firmware, and has been translated from Chinese to English. It classes the hybrid firmware as "Taiwan".

By the way, I LOVE the phone in your signature. In January, while I was in Japan, my friend got the same phone (or it looked identical) and it had a 4mp camera and that. The auto-slide was so sweet though, so unfortunate we'll never get to see it outside of Japan though.

Ohhh, thanks scottt..
I did not realise that the Taiwan and hybrid were the same thing.
Then the hybrid does not support fullscreen wallpaper. I will then get a 903 with the Jap firmware because the bar at the bottom of the screen would drive me insane. I also think there is a kind of some deal with the MP3 on the Jap FW as well, I'll have to look at it again.

Yeah the D902i(S) looks killer. I will be in Japan in a month or 2 so will get to see one first hand. I wonder if your mates was the same one ??

Taiwan and hybrid aren't the same.

The hybrid has the menu icons and theme colours of the JP firmware, but actually functions as a TW firmware (has all the Chinese languages and text strings and such). That's the reason icons and menu functions don't match up - the functions are in different places in each firmware.

I just sent her an email and she told me that's it. She has the white one, but she covered it lol. It's strange the way the "cover" market works in Japan. The majority don't have removable covers, so you buy like a plastic covering much like contact for books, but you can choose patterns and the like. So now, her phone is covered in Snoopy.. =.=;;

Anyway, I went to the Docomo shop nearby where I was staying (Shimotakaido, Suginami-ku) and checked out the whole 902 series. They were released while I was there. Pretty sweet stuff.

also. the abilities of tw and hybrid are different too.. one allows mp3 ringtones.. one doesn't.. one has an extra chinese input.. one doesn't.

Hybrid fw lets you have full screen wallpaper. I have such fw in my phone and functions as MP3 ringtones, full screen images, full video, etc aren't problem.

Thanks to everyone for clearing this up, well almost.
Would there be different versions of hybrid firmware, or is there only one version of hybrid firmware.
For example, there are people here in NZ who can flash/upgrade phones and advertise hybrid FW for the Sharp, would their hybrid firmware have different qualities than say for example, Timsta's hybrid firmware ?
Do these people make their own versions of hybrid or are the qualities universal ?

they woudl be the same except for my non-repro japanese firmware.. only i have that in the world.
