I just picked up a 8700g from T-mobile and am having some problems attempting to tether it to windows and connect to the internet with is as a bluetooth modem. I can connect via bluetooth to the Blackberry Device Manager but when I go to >Control Panels>Phones and Modems and have it detect and install the bluetooth modem it does detect anything. Can you guys please help me figure out why this blackberry is not showing up in this bluetooth modem area? Thanks in advance for all the help!

Probably because the BlackBerry can not be used as a Bluetooth modem. Bluetooth on a BlackBerry is limited to PIM syncing with a laptop and wireless headset. No Bluetooth data transfer. No Bluetooth modem.

I'm considering getting an 8700 and using it as a modem tethered to my computer is very important to me. If it won't work I would like to know. I found the following on the Blackberry web site; this indicates it should work.

How To - Connect a personal computer or laptop to the Internet using a GPRS or EDGE BlackBerry device as a tethered modem

Now I see, it only works with a USB connection.
Maybe I won't switch to a Blackberry afterall...

I thought DUN wasn't even enabled on the Blackberry?

You can use the BlackBerry, connected via the USB cable to your PC as a modem - but you may have to pay extra to your carrier and some carriers block it.

Ah, so maybe DUN via BT is just disabled.
