Unlocked 8700c????

I am new to the gsm side. I just aquired from a co worker a unlocked 8700c. I am interested in T-Mobile. How can I tell if the phone is truly unlocked. I don't have a sim card and havent actually gone to a T-Mobile store yet.

Is there a way of seeing if it is unlocked without putting a sim card in it?

Thanks!

Options->Advanced->SIM Card. Type MEPD. It should say Disabled to the right of Network.

This is what shows up:

Sim Disabled
Network Active
Network Subset Disabled
Service Provider Disabled
Corporate Disabled

I do not have a sim card to try it. Does this mean it is unlocked?

Thanks in advance

Wow. Did you even read what briareus said?

He said if "DISABLED" is to the RIGHT of "NETWORK" it is unlocked. Look at what you typed. "Network Active"......

I did read it! Like I said this is the first GSM device I have touched. I didn't know if Network Subset meant anything.

It is sad that people are so quick to attack someone for asking a question when helping someone takes the same if not less effort!

Not attacking, just being extremely blunt. I thought the answer he gave you was clear as day. If I had a Blackberry, I'd try to help you out, but the best I got is "try a different SIM card" which you already stated you cannot do. Try one of your friends SIM though? Or walk into a T-Mobile store and ask them to put a SIM in?
