So, I'm here, trying to "upgrade" the skin of my V3i. I have all the software. Turns out, P2kMan will NOT read my phone. I tried everything, including rebooting my computer, and it still will not read my phone. It saids "phone not connected" at the bottom corner. Can anyone help me out? Any help/information will be greatly appreciated. Thank you and have a great day.

Is PST running?
Have you tried disconnecting and reconnecting the phone while P2kMan is open, WHILE PST is also open?

If that doesn't work for you (It didn't for me--after I got around P2kMan not seeing my phone, the "FileList entry size invalid!" bug plagued my phone), try BitPim.

I'm a newb. What's PST? I have Mobile PhoneTools, if that helps. Otherwise, which direction should I head to get PST? Again, information will be greatly appreciated.

PST (Phone Support Tools) is a suite of tools that Motorola made for distributors to use, to upgrade/flash/whatnot phones.

You can't exactly get PST legally, to the best of my knowledge. I'll let you figure it out from there.

Thanks for the info. After some intensive searching in the middle of the night, I was able to get PST. I tried every other method, but P2kMan still won't recognize my phone. I have PST and P2kMan running at the same time, but still no dice. I also have newp2k, but no results. I believe bitpim is a software for CDMA (V3c) phones, right?

you did set the Connection > USB Connection to 'data and modem' or something like that instead of 'memory card' correct?

try using a program called p2kcommander. if you've ever used totalcommander for ftp, p2kcommander has the same idea. i used that program to put skins on mine. i do remember the whole getting the phone into p2k mode was a pain. make sure the phone is in fax/data mode when you connect it ans start p2kc

hi mynd,

sorry to hear that you are having the same problem that I am and nothing that I have read and tried here has helped, and I have spent a lot of time on this problem. I am new to Motorola, having had several Nokia phones, and am not happy at all with Motorola. The MPT is just not enough (cannot move a user between groups [Catagories] in the phone book and many more frustrating problems). The MotoManual seems to be generic [Your Phones Menu May Be Different, and it is]. Motorola does not seem to be very easy to contact and the User Guide downloads are very basic.

I am about to get rid of it and go back to Nokia. Were you ever successful in connecting with PK2Man?

Thanks, zen4dummies
