USB connection to Motorola E815 phone on Mac OS X?

I have a Motorola E815 (Verizon) phone and SKN6311B USB cable. I want to transer photo files from my phone to my Apple PowerBook. Can I get the PowerBook to mount the E815 file system over USB? How?

Background:

I can successfully use Bluetooth to sync my addressbook and calendar with the E815 in iSync, but Verizon famously cripples OBEX file transfer in its Bluetooth phones. I'm aware of the hacks to un-cripple OBEX but they require a PC, they void your warranty and they can fry your phone. So I'm looking into whether file transfer to a Mac via USB is an alternative. Simply plugging in the USB cable doesn't seem to do it.

Anybody? Thanks.

P.S. I followed a lead in another post saying that the moto4lin tool had been ported to Mac OS X, but digging further I see reports that moto4lin isn't working for the E815 yet: http://moto4lin.sourceforge.net/wiki/E815

Hmm -- here's something from the Motorola suport site about doing file transfers to and from a memory card over USB:

Anybody tried it? Is it only supposed to work with a memory card and it's impossible to access files on the E815 without transferring them to a memory card first?

In other words, do I have to go out and buy a memory card? :-(

try BitPim.... http://bitpim.org Its freeware... There are some quirks yet being reported, but for the most part it now works... (Moto CDMA support having just been added recently..)

I don't really make use of it since I have a Windows PC and have re-enabled BT OBEX... plus use Motorola Phone Tools....

Thanks for the tip! I downloaded BitPim and managed to get it talking to my E815 over a USB cable (I had to temporarily disable Bluetooth on my Mac so it would fall back to USB).

I haven't figured out how to access my photos yet. Still poking at it.
