T-Mobile PAYG data free each month?

I read somewhere that gprs data was free on T-Mobile each month on PAYG - you got like 1 Gb each month if you paid a certain amount of money each month?

Can't for the life of me find the reference... anyone confirm?

Missed a payment with O2 (£120 - £35 rental, the rest was data charges, and not that great an amount of data, ripoff) and now they want £407 from me - rental again, £66+VAT of data (don't mind paying all that one last time) and they're looking for the NEXT six months rental from me up front.

Doesn't make sense for one missed payment.

I don't want to wait any more until a certain handheld comes out on T-Mobile contract - this O2 crowd are bleeding me at a time when T-Mobile charge £7.50 for unlimited data.

Seriously O2, wind yer neck in.

Gottit - it was their SIM-only, £7.50/mth deal, which can be cancelled with 30 days notice. Was able to add the web n walk bundle onto it. Simple as that. Unlimited data for £15 a month.

Internet. Don't agree with the pay per minute basis of WAP.... always preferred to pay via Kilobyte.

Course, paying a flat fee and have 2GB to play with is even better.

the difference between WAP/Internet is different to the difference between paying for data being sent over a voice-call like CSD session and a charged-for-data sent GPRS session.

There are rumours on the T-Mobile UK board of the hiptop.com forums that T-Mobile UK are bringing web 'n' walk to their pay as you go plans.

[the hiptop is the original name of the t-mobile sidekick - a data centric phone. the rumours are in the context of them bringing the sidekick to pay as you go, but talk of bringing web 'n' walk to all pay and go phones rather than being a sidekick-exclusive as it is in the US].

I checked the T-Mobile website and it states the following:

£1 maximum daily charge applies to Mates Rates, Everyone and Text Appeal customers. Charges of 0.73p per KB applies until £1 per day (midnight to midnight) is spent. If you have already spent £1 and you browse for a continuous period from before midnight to after midnight, all of that period will be charged at the new day's rate of 0.73p per KB. Not applicable to connection via CSD.

Correct me if I am wrong, but does this means that if I browse the web from Opera / Pocket IE (NOT WAP - real web browsing) and occur 5 Mb download, I still ONLY get charged £1 on that day?

BTW, I searched their website and couldn't find any references which shows that this is for 3G, not EDGE/GPRS or WAP.

No, I believe this is for Pay-monthly. The PAYG is based on the above, where it SEEMS to cost only £ 1 / day when you use it (no charge when you're not using it).
