I just ordered this phone without really looking at it or reading about it lol.. Why? I dont know.. My friend has one and the screen is awesome and to me thats a good enough reason to buy it. Anyways I dont use my cellphones to there maximum capability, I never really use much of the functions. But I just wanted to know... k
1.Does it come with a USB cable in the box?
2.And to update firmware you just install the program that comes with the phone then update right? Its important for me that the phone can be connected to a computer.
3.And also the camera is 2megpixels which is good but can anyone comment on how good the pictures actually are? maybe some pics taken would answer that question.
4.I heard that the VS7 wont accept loading files on it that are bigger then a few hundred kb.. if thats true.. wtheck.. anyone know?

Thanks in advanced,
Brian Cheng

well, i myself dont even know why it cant accept **** on bluetooth its annoying. but usb cable comes with it. so does software. and firmware, i needa find out where to get the new firmware myself!

I think the guy above answered most of the questions...
but I would also like to point out that the camera overall is crap...
I thought my old Sharp Gx22 was better, on the screen they look great but once on the computer poor quality...
and forget about developing any of them; you'll only see grainy pictures...
As for that large file comment, I was able to upload several full mp3's on the phone, but i know that 3gp files have to be below a certain number of kbs

Nah, I don't think the camera is THAT bad. I've developed my pictures before, and there were quite a few good ones.

Posted by: import_nation

ahh yea well i heard that the 2megapixel camera wasnt that great. this phone is basically just good for the screen and basic functions. but it doesnt really matter to me. i just wanto know though how are the colors of the camera? i dont care that much about quality since i shrink down the pics when i load them on my computer making them sharper. but are the colors dull?

Posted by: Nick Dellhall

If you want a good camera, you should go for a Sharp 903 or 904. Function wise I think the VS7 is pretty good for moderate cellphone users.

Posted by: zerosz

well the 2 megapixel camera is better than alot of fones...... in my opinion. but if u want to wait for the Panasonic P902i or one of them other jap ones that are coming out. one of them has 4 megapixel camera ^___^.

Guys, mind if I add one more question to import_nation's list?

The VS7 has Java and MMS, does that mean it can get use the MSN/Yahoo IM service on Fido? <link>http://www.fido.ca/chat/en/index.asphttp://www.fido.ca/chat/en/index.asp</link>

What version for you VS7? The latest one is VQ26 also can fix/improve the camera problem.
then in transmission.. if u use BT to transfer data file (the file on al least 1MB) , IrDA also same as BT. otherwise if u use USB cable to trasnfer you can transfer max. 6MB (1MB MP3/ 300K MMF) and (6MB MP3 song)

Well, it depends on the bundle. Mine came with the black (simil carbon fiber) and the silver with black and white thin stripes.
I know that some came with this two and the dark red (also simil carbon fiber).
The real problem is that is almost impossible to get aditional faceplates, cause no one has it for sale

Posted by: marktang

oh alrite i c. when did the vs7 came out exactly?

Posted by: G_Unit

I don't remember exactly, but it was around september 2005.

Posted by: import_nation

i have a question.. for those who have a vs7.. how well does the auto flip hold up.. it seems like its slowly not working anymore..

Posted by: G_Unit

I have mine around a month ago and the One push auto open works grate. I try not to use it all the time, just when it's necesary (only one hand free). But it sims to be pretty durable.
We'll see

Posted by: zerosz

wtf... ? slowly not working anymore..... that pretty dodgy seeing as i open it and close it around 100 times a day and ive had it for around 1 month and abit already and its still working fine.... im trying to find somewhere in perth that can fix panasonic vs7 hinges to be prepared for the worst.. but mines fine at the moment hey...

Posted by: moeman1

lol I cant transfer any files with my vs7 why? I am using a bt dongle. I was able to connect but I cant transfer any files.

Posted by: moeman1

BTW is there a way to fix the low speaker volume. I can barely hear the other speaker.

Posted by: recon_zrt

i have questions about the vs7

1)is the camera very good?
2)is there a flash and does it light up good?
3)good reception?
4)is it very thick (very pocketable)?
5)does n-e-1 say wow, ooh, ahhh when they see it? (the wow factor of coolness)

um.... i guess that is it

1) The camera is awesome! Grate image quality, it's a little laggy after you shot the picture, but I think it is normal for a camera phone.

2) There is a flash. It is usefull for short distance pictures, don't expect a super flash, it's just a bright led, but work fine for macro mode.

3) The reception is perfect (more than my previously V300), but remember that it works on 900/1800/1900.

4) Well, is not like V3, but is pretty thick: Just 18.8 mm!! (remember it's a 2.0 mp camera phone)

5) Let me tell you this, everyone (and I mean everyone) who see this phone says WOW!!. It happends to me, and it will happends to you if you buy one.

Good luck!

Anyways can the volume issue be fixed. I can barely hear the other side

Posted by: G_Unit

well, earpiece volume is just fine for quiet enviroments, but if you are in a car or in public places forget to keep a conversation.
In the other hand, if you use the headset (included on the package) the sound becames awesome! you probably would need to lower it a bit because is strong, loud and clear.

I just purchased the VS7 and since it's a non-US phone I understand that support is limited, but does anyone know of any firmware upgrades (English) available for this phone. I've read threads about the firmware, but no one seems to have a difinitive answer. So, simply, can you upgrade the firmware if you are outside the market area (ie, US)? I've looked at the Panasonic support site for the phone and they don't have any information about firmware.

Thanks!

The lastest F/W is Q27. If you like I can send it for you.
