*sigh* i somehow have a torn ribbon cable on my cherished v551. i mean it's not that great of a phone but i have a lot of pictures and stuff on there that i'd really like to keep. Anyway, i checked ebay for ribbon cables but i dont see one for the v551 specifically, however i do see a v600 v620 that looks exactly the same, except for the giant 'V600' marking. Now is there any chance that this infact will work with my v551? If not does anyone have any suggests as to how i may get the pictures and such off of the phone? Or somewhere where i could buy the correct ribbon cable would be great.

well you could always get a data cable for that phone and pull all of the good pictures off of it. that's about all i can think of. ribbon cables = very difficult if not impossible to replace. atleast what i've found out for myself on my old v710. *sigh*

can i connect a usb cable to a phone that has a screwy ribbon cable?

no problem? Hm could you clarify? LIke where are the actually pictures and phone numbers stored? Could I just connect the usb cable to a powered keypad..?, that is with out the screen attached with the ribbon cable..?

the ribbon cable goes from the screen/lcd part then there is the vibrator and then the other end connects to the back of the keypad. i just tried i can't get a computer to see the phone.. but then again I can't relaly be sure its 'on'. The keypad lights up and then goes off, no sounds or anything.. i mean if the data is on the phone there must be a way to get it off... right?

vxxx ribbons are all the same, so are the cameras with the exception of the v360

Try cnn.cn for parts sometimes they have alot then sometimes they dont.

a caution the V600/620 flex cable is slightly different than the one for the V300/400/505/551

yeah i thought so as well... but another question is there any known way to remove the data off of a phone's hardisk or flash disk or whatever it is it uses.. (other than usb)... because i can't turn the phone on properly...
