Hatred of Activesync

I just got my 8125 this past week. It took me 3 days to get my phone to sync with my pc. Those 3 days were excruciating and I poured over the internet looking for a solution. After fixing the problem, I downloaded the 2.25 rom on Monday and now activesync will not work anymore. I have poured over this forum and other areas of the internet. I think this is cruel joke, and even though I really like this handset, I may be getting rid of it sood.

I've been through some of the same pains after loading the new rom update, but found the problem was on my pc. Have you tried syncing to a 2nd computer? What operating system are you using? Multiple users? Before I did the rom update, the only way I could get the device to sync at home was to reboot the computer, and only sign on to my user account, turned off my firewall, then sync. Since I updated the rom and had new problems I searched everywhere for a solution and tried everything suggested, but after following the advice I received on a microsoft newsgroup and following the uninstall directions I was able to successfully create a partnership with the device and properly sync.

Can you describe your issues with activesync? Are you getting a partnership and then just can't get the unit to sync? or are you having the problem I experienced and can't get a partnership?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 4.01; Windows CE; PPC; 240x320))

Bummer... I got most everything to work flawlessly, including Activeasync via cable and Bluetooth, and Exchange ActiveSync and DirectPush.

Yeah, I have already seen your thread and it did not help me. I have tried 2 different computers. It always says, Critical communications services have failed to start. Try resetting the mobile device and then connect again.

I have done this as well.

A google search of that particular error message shows that the common fix is to make sure that your firewall is disabled when trying to do sync your mobile device with activesync.

I've done that, as well as disabling every type of spyware and antivirus program that I have.

I think that Bill Gates should come fix this personally.

Try to Install Rom 2.25 and setup active sync option on 8125 side as serial.

I've already done that.

By the way, thanks for the advice. I am not usually this negative.

having the same issue..."upgraded" to 2.25 and my contacts won't sync out of outlook either. I saw a post awhile back where someone said to export the contacts to an excel file and check if any of the contacts had anything in the "other phone" line, and to move that phone number to a different category (i.e. mobile number) if any contacts existed in that state. Have you tried that? But your problem is probably the same as mine, because that advice did not work for me. After the first time my phone tries to sync with outlook after creating a new partnership, the option for syncing contacts does not exist anymore.

Is there a way or program to force individual contacts to sync to the device? I have no problem doing a repetitive method of entry for all of my contacts; I just don't want to type a new entry out for each one with the mini-keyboard

Go to FOlder List view in Outlook, right click on Calendar, create new folder, move all contacts there, connect and sync.
Once it says Sync finished, start moving one by one, it should sync within 1, 2 second. Repat

Have you tried resetting the device and trying again? Maybe do a hard reset? I guess you can't reflash without ActiveSync working, but they might do it for you in a Cingular store...

I never had a problem with activesync, worked right from day one. Upgraded to 2.25 no problems either...

Even synced to a 2nd pc with no problems....

Have you considered there is somthing wrong with your PC, and not the phone?

The issue lies on the pc, not the phone. I know thissss mannnnn....

tried resetting the device (not hard reset), tried deleting relationship with PC and forming a new one, tried copying the contacts to a regular directory on one of my hard drives then letting the device sync then moving contacts in from that folder (not from another folder within outlook like you mentioned however)...

i'm almost ready to just give up and enter all the contacts manually and consider this a defeat and a dead issue...i did a lot of cutting out the dead wood and i'm down to 85 contacts now but still, it's kind of the philosophy of the thing...don't want to admit my phone is smarter than me.

is there a contacts utility for importing contacts from outlook OTHER THAN ACTIVESYNC or does noone write one since activesync seems to do its job for some people?

I am thinking this would be correct for all of us with this problem.

I'd go further and say it's an activesync problem as well

damn i hate that program

I have tried multiple computers, multiple usb cables, done soft and hard resets and still nothing.

I don't even care about syncing with outlook, I just want to be able to transfer files from pc to handheld, and be able to install software.
