Hey all, i'm new to this forum and i was wondering if guys and gals could help me.

I just bought a nokia 8390 from someone on the net, and although it was advertised as new, when i go to the life timer menu it gives me:

Serial no.: 00000000000000
Made: 0000
Purchasing date: mmyyyy
Repaired: mmyyyy
Life timer: 000008:50

i can see that's it not new, which i don't mind, because it's like new, but what worries me is the blank serial number.

Does anyone have any idea what kind of modifications have been made? I'm using with Fido right now, and i guess the IMEI hasn't been blacklisted, because it's working fine.

*#06# gives me an IMEI number. I'm just weary about giving that number to Fido, if you know what i mean? I'm even afraid of bringing it in for service to get the firmware upgraded (it'S at 7.70).

any ideas?

The *#92702689# info is wiped out when firmare is upgraded.

And the only one that works after firmware upgrade is the lifetimer, which had also been reset.

I had an 8390 that had a firmware upgrade and had all that info reset, it's no biggy as long as *#06# and #0000# work.

mine's like that too! the serial number, etc is all blanked out.. Y u so worry, unless ur fone's a stolen property?

other then that u should have receipts, etc to prove to police or whoever that u bought it like that and unever knew..!

Aactually, i was a bit afrais it was hot, but he did sell it to me with the box and everything, so that is kinda reassuring...

i feel better about the blank serial number now... also my friend's info screen doesn't even have a life timer, so...

the 8390 (v 7.72) that i purchased directly from cingular has the same 0's and empty dates as yours (lifetimer also works). Doesn't seem like anything to worry about. Enjoy your new phone!
