I believe Sony's naming scheme is:
i --> phone released outside of America and China
a--> phone released for America
c--> phone released for China
Sony will be launching the M600 in China so it will be known as the M600c. Also, for example, the P910 was launched in America and was known as the P910a whereas outside the US it was known as the P910i. The P910a has additional suport for 850mhz.

I think you're right about the i/a/c -- that's pretty much what I've noticed from SonyEricsson. With one exception -- I have a T68mc. I'm not sure what the "mc" stands for other than the "c" is probably China since there are Chinese letters on the keypad. The T68 seemed to have an unusual number of variations, but these days SE seems to have settled just on a/i/c.
That said, there is a significant difference between an M600i and an M600c. While the "i" version of this phone has the dual-purpose rocker keys on the keypad, the "c" version does not. Instead, it has many more individual smaller keys. Go figure.
