Got a motorola from Rogers... the thing is, I can't call home, it said my home number is not assigned... What on earth is that? I don't think it's the phone, well, for sure its not the phone. Must be the sim, but how can I get this fixed??? anyone know? or anyone have that problem? Tried deleting the number and re-enter it, still doesn't work. Can it be the Sim Card registry?? I'm lost. help, anyone??

You are not giving enough information for someone to make a judgement. Some additional information: area codes involved, local or long distance, roaming or home network and how numbers are entered in phone book. A cellular carrier cannot tell whether a landline number is assigned. You would be connected to the landline system and they would either complete the call or respond with their error message. It appears that you are trying to call a number on the same wireless network as you.

Another possibility is that the home phone has call forwarding turned on which forwards the calls to a non-existent number. Make sure that your caller ID is not blocked.

Well, the home number is in 416 area (Toronto). The number is enter in the sim and in the phone just incase u r wondering. Also, its not a long distance call, just a regular local call. And YES i do know what call forwarding is, and sure i didn't forward to an unavailable number. Just a hassle since i have to use my friends phone to call home if i needed to. Doesn't seem like anyone knows what the problem is....... sigh....

Check to see whether any dialing restrictions such as fixed dialing is turned on.

If you can call other Toronto numbers using the same phone and dialing the same way, then Rogers' switch has a problem. Don't worry about your SIM or phone. Call customer service and explain the problem to them. That's what they are there for. Just be sure to let them know that you have no trouble calling your neighbor, you just can't call your home.
