So here is a compiled list of all the hacks and reg edits i have compiled for my Q.
(In no way am i trying to copy peoples findings or work....just makin it easier for the rest of us.)

Please note, you need to edit the registry to do this.

1. First, you will need to download a Registry Editor.
a good one will be Resco Explorer, you can use the Registry Editor that comes with it...

Disable sent confirmation

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Inbox

Click on Inbox (make sure the Inbox is highlighted) and select Edit, New Key
Name the New Key as "Settings"
Click on "Settings" (make sure the Settings is highlighted) and select Edit, New String Value
On "Value name:", key in SMSNoSentMsg and in "Value data", key in 1
Soft reset your device and test it with one SMS, and you will notice that the SMS Sent bubble is being disabled

Splash Screen Hack

I just discovered the registry for that blue startup screen that says Windows Mobile on it when you turn on your phone (after the VZW animation).

\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Splash Screen

I guess it would be the file called MSBitmap, that shows \Windows\ms_screen.png. I couldn't see this PNG file on the Q's file manager or on Resco Explorer, but I see it now on my PC.

This means you can make your own image to go there, which I think is pretty darn cool.

Camera Hacks

\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Pictures\Ca mera\OEM

There are tons of strings and folders in this Registry, so I assume there are a lot of things you can change through this. I just started looking for them a couple of minutes ago, so this is all I have:

-Change number of bursts in Burst mode:
-In the "PicsInBurst" file, change the number to however many pics you want to be taken in the "Burst" mode in the camera.

Memory Cache (SPEED HACK)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\GDI\GLYPHCACHE\
changed limit from 16384 to 32768

this one increases the memory cache for system fonts.

Operations Cache(SPEED HACK)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\FATFS
changed - CacheSize to 4096

this one increases the cache size for IO operations

Changing System Startup Sound

\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds

At the very bottom of the list of entries, there an entry called AllSounds

Open that up and you'll see a list of mp3 files.

All you have to do is append your own audio files (mp3, wma, or wav) to the list. Then you have to make sure that you place your new audio clips in the \Windows folder so that they are accessible.

The next time you go to the sounds events page, the drop down menu will contain the new clips you added.

If you want to change the system startup sound, go to:

\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\SystemStart \Sound

Change the hidden wav file, \Windows\Piano.wav to \Windows\MY_WAV_GOES_HERE.wav

I'd be really cautious about changing the startup wav. You don't want the phone to lock if the audio file doesn't load. I converted my wav to 16bit, stereo, 22khz WAV file. I didn't use mp3 or WMA. This seems to work fine.

Note: I personally added the large Vista Startup Sound (1mb) and it works, a little sluggish at first. (TechWhore)

Call History Max

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Phone]

"CallHistoryMax" contains the number of numbers that will be kept in history. F.e. change it to 100

Now you have to create the key string and set the value to whatever you like.

so, what if i just want to nix the startup sound? will i have to end up putting a wav of silence in it? because, as if the effin thing doesn't take enough time to start up. I'd love to just cut out the screen animation too.

A hack worth adding, which is somewhere here on HoFo (I'm on my Q right now and am not gonna search and copy it down) is the one that enables the WAP version of HoFo.

I am pretty sure these registry edits void the warranty if they could trace them. Just a few years late on asking, aren't we?

Check qusers.com for more info, most here have moved from the Q as there are newer, better phones.
