I just got a V3C for Verizon and I got Motorola Phone Tools thinking that I would be able to transfer ringtones via USB but that didnt work out...i was wondering if their would be a way for me to do that without having to go buy a bluetooth adapter...?

you need to edit a seem or two depending on what you want or perhaps flash to a different firmware also depending on what you want.

why cant u just install the p2k drivers for that phone, use the cable, windows will recognize it, install, and then use something like p2kcommander to load it? Works for my v3 and v3x, but I havent tried it on CDMA. Is it that much different? The system should be the same, just different network connection no?

Wow, you should read up on our CDMA cousins before offering advice. Their phones are quite different. Why do you think we now have a SEPARATE CDMA phone subtopic here?

CDMA Phones are different...

99% of the tools used for GSM phones don't work on CDMA ones...

While P2KCommander can be used, you must run PST (or MSU) in the background to put the phone in the proper "suspend or diag mode" to get the P2K drivers installed... And you have to turn off the P2KAutoStart feature, and P2KCommander freezes, etc.. (v3.22 and v3.26 appear to the be the most compatible)... OH, and you need to make sure if you use PST, you use v7.23 and the v2.9 of the P2K drivers (newer than what comes with PST 7.23)...

Then you can place the ring tones in /motorola/shared/audio folder (using P2KCommander)... then you have to delete the MyToneDB.DB file, and restart the phone... which of course re-indexes the ringers, so your ringer ID's get messed up...

Easy, huh??

lingervette, do like jlbrightbill suggested... visit http://cdmaforums.com/mark there is info on what is needed to use MPT...
