I don't know what cable Motorola charged you $60 for, but I just get an OEM Package legitimately on Ebay for $20 - included the USB Cable, Motorola Phone Tools Ver 4.03 (which it updated to 4.04 after installation), and genuine Motorola Car Charger.

As for BT Dongle, this is another fun way to go. What exactly are you wanting to do, and what devices do you want to use it with? What phone? What service? These answers will determine your best and available options.

I lost user manual and they said i could download ringtones with this and screen savers. does anyone know about this? do you know about this one? thanks julie

Again ~ nobody can answer your questions without knowing what phone you using?

I suggest you spend alot of time here reading as much as you can, you'll find the answers to your questions. In the meantime... 60 bucks.... for a cable ?!?! Do yourself a favor and check out the dongles on Ebay before you hand over that kind of cash again.

Got mine, OEM usb cable and Phone tools 4.03 which also updated for $10 ..... actually bought 2, so two for twenty, one for home, one for office. A simple seem edit will enable transfers from usb for both ringtone and wallpapers. Check out the Verizon forum for motos. Mark Venture in the forum has web pages that describe how to do the seem edits. pretty easy stuff took about a whole 10 min (newbie)....

Julie,

What software (name and version) came with the Data Connectivity Kit?

Probably SmithMicro Mobile Phone Book... although they do make "quicklink music" which is supposed to transfer ringtones, pictures and videos...

If all you are going to do with it is use it with your phone... the D-Link is fine!!! it comes with Widcomm drivers (Easy to use and compatible with Moto Phone Tools)...

Use the link for USER CP along the upper left/center portion of the page... then use the link for EDIT PROFILE along the left... you can fill in your phone and proivder...

Since you have Alltel, you don't have to deal with many of the Verizon V3C limits!!! Lucky you!!

You can use MPT the "full features" of out of the box!!

As far as paying $60 for the kit, one thing a lot of people don't realize is that you get a "coupon" from Motorola when you register your phone with them. I think it's $20 and is good for most stuff on the site. While it's still pricey compared to eBay, at least you know you're truly getting a legit copy of whatever software's included.

Sometimes, when you factor in the $0.01 buy-it-now price and $50 shipping on eBay, one can come out ahead with the Moto coupon

Read the PC Bluetooth Link on my pages http://mark.cdmaforums.com especailly the part about renaming the BTH files BEFORE you plug the dongle in...

Since puargs wrote a great tutorial, I didn't write one, instead I just added a linked to his off my PC Bluetooth page (and on my HOW TO's)... -> http://www.puargs.net/?page_id=26 that tells you exactly what to do... there is also a link there for where we have some discussion going about it.. so if you have questions....

Mark,

If I might slightly hijack this thread. I have posted elsewhere on this and other forums, but haven't resolved this yet.

Also - I PM'd you on this, forgetting your request, but have no way to recall it, so please forgive me, and ignore the PM. Here is the gist of my situation:

I've followed your posts, used your website, etc., but can't quite get this going. Here's a brief synopsis:

Win XP Home/SP2

Last November, bought legitimate CNet CBD-101 BT USB Dongle from NewEgg. Came with BlueSoleil 1.4.9.5 drivers. Works fine with my Delorme BlueLogger GPS, Palm TX, etc.

Just bought Motorola H700 BT Headset to use with Alltel Razr V3c - works fine. Now want to use it with PC for Skype.

BlueSoleil 1.4.9.5 software recognized and paired with the H700, but after considerable troubleshooting, is unable to connect Bluetooth Headset Service.

Downloaded demo of BlueSoleil 2.1.3.0 VoIP Version. Uninstalled 1.4.9.5, installed 2.1.3.0. I was able to pair with H700, and use BT Headset Service. Worked fine, but demo limited to 5mb.

Went to purchase the upgrade, but BlueSoleil refuses to sell me a license!!! I can't give a rational basis for this.

Uninstalled BS 2.1.3.0, installed Widcomm 5.0.1.2800. Now when I try to access the Dongle, it also gives a license issue, and refuses to connect with it: "Bluetooth License Check Failed."

I'm about to give up with this and just buy a Motorola PC850, which should be pretty much guaranteed to work with my H700 for all services.

But thought I'd check with you to see if you had any suggestions on how to resolve this licensing crap. I say crap because I bought the device and software legitimately, and am not trying to cheat anybody!!

Any thoughts appreciated.

As I responded to your PM... You're stuck.

Since the dongle didn't ship with the Widcomm, it will fail the License check. The only way is to try and find a Licenese Hacker for it on the internet. And even then, there is a chance your dongle wont be 100% compatibile with the widcomm stack.

If Bluesoliel wont sell you a license, and your dongle maker hasn't released a newer version yet, you're out of luck there too.

Sorry, this is the biggest thing I HATE about bluetooth... And it does NOT matter which brand you buy... we are stuck in this situation!

Example... I've purchased two ambicom dongles... the first one will only work with the 1.37 Widcomm drivers, but the newer will use the 3.09 drivers. Even though they are the same model number...

So, as new drivers get released, toss out your perfectly good dongle that would work no problems IF they would only release the newer drivers for your hardware....

Well, I appreciate the clarification, even though it's obviously not what I would have liked to hear

I had assumed the dongle was like any other hardware, like a videocard, where the user has the legitimate option to upgrade or use any software driver they want, without violating any licensing aggreement. Apparently I was wrong....

The biggest shock here is that BlueSoleil refuses to sell me a software upgrade!!! It's not like I'm asking them for something for free, or am using an illegal or pirated version of either hardware or software. To me, this is completely unprecedented in my almost 20 years of working on/with computers.

But thanks for your reply, in any case.
