(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Dash23

Im heading to Toronto on Wednesday, and im curiuos why its so bloody hard to find the white face plate for the 8390? , im lookin for the one that also comes with the white keypad which matches, it looks so sick

anyone in toronto that knows wehre to get it please message me or reply, a guy told therse a place called 'Chit Chat' that may have it which is in Eatons Centre, thats the only mall im pretty familiar with.

Any help would be appreciated, if not, where can i order it online? i know some of u guys on here are lucky enough to have it already, enlighten me! and im not going to Hong Kong just to get a face plate!

I don't know whether you're familiar with First Markham Place or Pacific Mall but I'm almost certain they will have it there.

Posted by: Dash23

falco said pacific mall as well, im only familiar with Eatons centre, that mall is massive, wouldn't it be bound to have it? or you guys think Pacific mall is a better bet? if anyones been there lately and knows, could someone let me know, cause it would save me a hell of a trip if any of you guys/gals know if it even has the white OEM faceplates

Posted by: anon.

well I don't know where you live but I would say Pacific mall is better. That's only because I don't really know downtown that well and if they have cell phone places like Pacific mall does.

Posted by: Ryan1524

the one and only place that has it would be Pacific Mall, don't even bother trying Eaton Centre, most are just cheap knock-offs that look like OEM, but it's really crap..so my suggestion is go straight to Pacmall, and i saw one, with the all red as well, and with the keypads in a store called 'Communication Store', it looks quite OEM, but i've never inspected it myself..
i frequently check First Markham Place and Eaton, and they never have the white 8390 OEMs..

noones certain eh, i might be wastin my time heheheh

They have it at a shop in Pacific just saw it the other day -- both the original keypad and housing.

Posted by: Dash23

okay, now whats easiest way to get to Pacific Mall, someone posted the intersection it was on earlier somewhere but i have no idea where it is

i'd probably be entering toronto from the gardiner express way i believe it is....the exit right by the ACC and skydome, so how far from there, and where, if anyone has a minute to type it out for me

thanks and much appriciated

Posted by: kckool

Gardner -> DVP - 404
Exit at Steeles
Turn Right at Steeles
go for a little bit
once you hit kennedy, Pacific is on your left hand side.

Have fun parking

times to avoid unless you want to fight a 15min-45min for parking:

Friday after 7
Saturday 12noon till 9pm (stores closes) -- basically avoid unless you really want to wait
Sunday 12noon till 7pm

other hours are good

Posted by: wireless t-dot

They're not sold out, if you enter the main entrance -- the one facing Steeles, then go to the last isle on your right walk all the way down and almost towards the end there is a little store its called 'something communications' can't remember exactly, the guy in the stores name is Waldo. They've got the OEM white face and keypad. Hope this helps!

Posted by: wireless t-dot

Hey thanks alot man, thats really helpful! I'm 99% sure its:
Communication Store
Tel: (905) 944-1100
Ask for Waldo, if he says 'yes speaking' -- then you've got the right place

Posted by: shinjiplus

be careful... the OEM white one will most likely not come in retail packaging.

when i went to HK, i bought the OEM white one with faceplate the best way possible... i went to a store, handed some guy $$$$, grabbed a "Light 8390" box, and took the faceplate and keypad off the actual 8310 and left (my faceplate has since been sold ).

usually the FAKE white one will have a screen protector that says "NOKIA NOKIA NOKIA" on it (in blue). it looks "real" but it's not.

remember that the OEM white keypad WILL have chinese strokes on it, and remember that the middle row of buttons will be off-white (like your stock keypad) and the outer rows will be more white.

Posted by: Ryan1524

and there should be a chrome lining on the inner side of the grey part above the translucent part, it prevents light from shining through layers it should not...most aftermarkets don't have these and as a result, the light shines through the pastic in between the soft-keys and send/end key, and it doesn't look pretty...coz it makes you think the plastic is not solid and cheap..

also, the whiteness os the back plate and the bottom layer of the facia whouls not be pure white, like the trasnlucent part, but greyish white like the OEM original ones...

Posted by: Dash23

hmm interesting.....

ill have to take note of this stuff, so the inside of the face should be a duller color, and some funky chinese stuff on the keypad numbers....ill look out for that, i think i saw a picture of someone that had it somewhere on here ill check it out

oh btw, i called, was ready to ask for Waldo, but i keep getting to some voice mail for some reason, maybe there lazy bastards or busy, ill try again in a few mins

Posted by: Dash23

another question , ive noticed that EVERYONE that has this white face with matching keypad, the entire thing is not white, only the back piece which covers the batery, and the actual face

i dont like how the top of the back is still original blue, i swear i thought i saw someone that had a complete white one, if you go white, u gotta go all the way, dont u agree

whats the use of havin a wicked lookin all white phone with a little bit of blue that looks out of place? i mean your payin like 50 bux for the thing, should be perfect! heres lots of pics so u can see what i mean

http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...e+oem+faceplate

Posted by: Killa

does anyone know where i can get the same one in vancouver? would starting a new thread be better?

Posted by: Ryan1524

Dash23, you mean the antenna?? yes, you can't change that..unless you're daring enough to try and paint it..but i don't know what that would do to reception..

Posted by: Dash23

Wireless T-Dot, i got a hold of Waldo today, he says they got like 90 faceplates for that phone or soemthin lol......

jesus christ though, the Faceplate is like 45 bux, and he says the matching white keypad is sold seperately at around 25.......thats rediculous.....i always thougth the whole set came together? whats up wiht that...

70 bux just to make my phone white, i figured it'd only be like 49.99 for the whole thing...what a rip

Posted by: Dash23

Also, has anyone ever had blue LEDs lights underneath a white 8390 faceplate? i bet that would look amazing

and if anyone could tell me again about the matching keypad being a seperate 25 bux let me know, cause thats a rip...

easy just put ur white face plate on top of a 6590! lolz..
i like the 6590 face plate on 8390! lookz nice but not sure vice versa!

Posted by: Dash23

yah ryan thats a good question...do these guys discount at all ? heh , that'd be nice

Posted by: wireless t-dot

lol i dont know about discounts, i was just pointing to a place that i knew would carry the product. maybe if you decided to do a group buy or something they would negotiate. they usually negotiate in store (not over phone) -- take some one asian -- who can negotiate in the following languages; cantonese, mandarin and/or chinese. lol

Posted by: Dash23

I've just checked on ebay..

Here's a white faceplate with blue LEDs. Yep, that's a 6590i inside that faceplate.

Posted by: Dash23

kb racer, that looks sick...i like it

Posted by: Dash23

hey guys, question for you white face professionals

this picture im gonna post was called 'ivory white housing' on ebay, seems kinda more grey on the bottom of the face, and teh back piece....what u think here is the picture, it IS OEM though

Posted by: Dash23

NOW, here is a picture of another OEM white face which is the snow one...seems more white.......i never knew there was an ivory one? i won the auction for the ivory one, u guys think i should bail out and get this one instead? seems nicer cause its whiter, im not sure though, any help is great

heres the link to the picture, the picture is too big to post

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...item=3002842191

what u guys thinK? there is definitely a difference, this one seems much whiter, nicer, but they both OEM

Posted by: Cyberblue

Dash23, if you're looking for absolute-white I don't think the ivory white would suit your need. People often refer ivory white more like the color of CPU enclosure back in the old days, has a very little bit of yellowish tone.
I suggest go for the snow instead. However, both of them have milky white semitranslucent part around the LCD & keypad, don't you think it would make the white less solid? Anyways, it's your choice
I'm no faceplate expert but I can tell color composition even with a slight difference

Posted by: Ryan1524

it is OEM, and the white non translucent parts of the 'snow' faceplates are actually a bit greyish...and i think it looks nice, if it's pure white, you can get them for cheap as aftermarkets, but the greyish tone is what's used by Nokia...the snow cover has the same white base as the red and blue, except it's white...i thinkit looks nice, but to each their own...

Posted by: kb_racer

Ryan1524 is correct. The translucent parts of the OEM plate are white, but the rest is a very light grey. Flash photography tends to wash the grey and make the whole thing look white. I took my picture with the LEDs in very low light and no flash and that accentuates the light grey. If I took another photo with the flash it would appear to be more white. I don't think there really is a white on white OEM plate.

I believe the official name for this OEM plate that's provided with the 8310 is 'Light' and not 'White', 'Pure White' or 'Snow White'.

Posted by: Dash23

so the Snow white IS different from the ivory white....i knew the lightning would change it in the picture, but u can definitely tell that the snow white has a less greyish tone on the non translucent parts and seems more of a totally solid whiter color

i guess ill go for teh snow white instead, just seems nicer , and will give the entire phone a more whiter look , yes i know it has grey, i can clearly see that, just seems like the ivory picture i posted has quite a bit more grey, like the original faceplate the phone coems with

Posted by: Ryan1524

of course if there is such a thing is an OEM Snow/Pure white faceplates...afaik, Nokia only released this one..

Posted by: Dash23

cool, guess ill go for lovemoments snow white instead of the ivory white, i agree with u all, just looks nicer

Posted by: nrdempress

i bought a snow white faceplate from lovemoments on ebay, and it looks the same as the ivory picture you posted. i think the two pictures were just taken in different lighting, so the snow white faceplate looks very white. however, it is greyish on the bottom, around the screen, and on the battery cover. i think this is the way OEM is supposed to look though. by the way, lovemoments is a great seller.

Posted by: iGrooveLA

it's off topic but since you guys know a lot about OEM faceplates...

i bought 4 from this guy on ebay: a shiny silver, blue/silver, white/green, white/orange. they came in nokia packaging but i'm not sure they are OEM...they don't seem as sturdy...i compared it to the OEM faceplates I have but they are not identical...AFAYK, did Nokia release OEM faceplates in those color combinations or did I get gypped and buy aftermarket plates???

Posted by: Dash23

hey boys i bougth the white snow faceplate and keypad off lovemoments on ebay, right here

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...item=3002842191

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...item=3003216560

want me to post some pictures when the **** comes in? although u guys have already seen it 1800 times

Posted by: tyronewheatley

Wow, you paid 35 bucks for those? Thats like a months worth of service.... Man I think it would be even cheaper to paint your original face plate or a cheap aftermarket faceplate.

I saw them do it on a electronics/computers tv show before. The results were pretty nice.
