Computer to Clie to T616. Can it be done?

NEWB!
Just got a phone from a friend. these SE are so cool! i want more! So much smaller than my 5190! and my telus i80! So here is my question.
Would it be possible to move photos/ ringtones that I have downloaded to my computer to my memory card on my sony Clie and then from my Clie to my Sony T616 by beaming the files through the ir? I’m worried that the transfer to the Clie would corrupt certain types of files. Anyone ever done anything like this before?
I think this cool phone has won me over the the SE side.

I'll do that, once I finish cleaning and reassembling the phone.
