If you ask the people at the Palm Store they will confirm that a new Treo for GSM is planned for September- October of this year. Now we can see pictures!

I believe the information, based in the context of the other revelations the tipster was able to provide to Endgadet Mobile... something like 8 posts worth of rumors today!

But I find myself in a real quandry. Should I wait two to four months for the supposed Palm Treo 700p-like device to appear for GSM? And what if they don't have HSDPA capabilities? As people have said, "the Palm OS version would not support UMTS because the OS would nearly have to be rewritten (underway by the way) in order to do the multi-tasking and switching necessary to handle that standard."

My sincere hope is that someone from Palm, or Palm itself, will simply announce that the next version of their operating system has been tweaked/rewritten/fixed so that they will be able to compete in the 3.5G market (namely HSDPA).

So if the comments Palm executives have made concerning the difficulty in making their operating system are true, I think I would rather jump to Sprint before their SERO plan expires this Friday, June 30, 2006. $30 for 500 minutes, unlimited web/Nights & Weekends/Mobile to Mobile, and can probably get 100 free text messages added from the retentions department before 14 days is up.

I mean, what is the point of waiting for a GSM 700p if it won't have any sort of high-speed connectivity?

But I am glad that Palm is moving forward with its deployment of new Treos and platforms.

I wont get a new Treo/Palm smartphone until the next gen OS is availible. the upgrade value to me is not significant as I dont browse online due to INSANE prices for data in Canada and the 1.3 MP camera is still shite

Well I already called Palm and they put me on a list to ship me both devises for a month for review. The magic of companies considering your web site press!

Im gonna buy the Palm OS model myself. It will have Bluetooth 1.2 and hopefully WIFI. My big things are the 1.3MP camera, new design, 3G, at least 128MB of internal memory, abiity for 4GB SD cards, and such.

I can probably get a good price for my unlocked Treo 650 in a few months, if so Ill take it. As long as all my stuff works with it such as docks, protectors, memory, and cables.

Im in for another Palm OS 5 Garnet device.

fishera, once you can confirm the integration of 3G technology (HSDPA/UMTS) can you please let us peasants know who are standing at a GSM/CDMA crossroads?

Call me crazy, but I think a clamshell Treo would be cool. I like clamshells a lot, lol... It would make it smaller & protect the screen. They could keep the screen size & resolution the same, and space the keyboard out a little bit & maybe add some dedicated number keys, like on the Sidekick keyboard.

This is why I need to work for Palm, dammit.

Check out the Treo 270 for GSM or Treo 300 for CDMA. You can upgrade the rom manually like people do on the current treo's. See if you can add a camera and SDIO slot onto the motherboard. Good luck... Look on ebay they are cheap.

Absolutely!!!!
The Treo style needs a serious update/makeover/face&body lift/etc.....
Something like the Q would be a good start, maybe something like a widebody razr style. Now that would be cool!

Palm OS 6 Cobalt is on the way. I think the Treo 700p and next GSM Treo are the last on Palm OS 5 Garnet.

cobalt's been on its way foreeeeeever. i mean, the first cobalt device was supposed to be released last year...and not even by palm. maybe duke nukem will carry a cobalt palm phone in dnf, hmm?
