I am a novice user. Could someone please tell me what phones can have their gain tables edited. I do not know how to do this, so could someone also direct me to a tutorial on how to edit the gain table on a phone. I currently have a Nokia 6102 and the volume is terrible. I'd like to get a new phone whose gain table can be tweaked.

The gain_table is exclusive to motorola phones AFAIK. The motorola's that Cingular sells, or have sold in the past that can have their gain_table.bin file edited are the v400, V600, V551, V540, V557, V180, V220, V3 RAZR, ROKR E1, L7 SLVR and L2. ..there's probably a couple more that I've left out.

I have the Moto V551. What does it take to adjust the gain_table to increase my earpiece volume? Thanks

You need a data cable and the p2ktools program. Go register for free at motomodders.net and you can download it.

check the connection to your phone, then go to the store and buy a USB cable with that connection on it. many phone cables are compatible with mp3 players or cameras. so you might have one already.

Okay I bought the USB cable to connect to my phone from Cingular store. What to so next? Please help. I connected my phone to my laptop USB, and it does not recognize the connection. Do I have to install some kind of driver? Please help. Thanks

The editing of gain tables has been coverd VERY throughly over in the Motorola forum. I suggest reading up on the forum stickys to get familar with the terms and what you need to get started. All you need to know is in the Motorola forum and subforum. Just take some time to read the content.
