I am not sure with some of you guys but So Cal members, I've been driving on the 10 FRWY going west passing through downtown LA and on one of the side of the buildings, advertisements have always been painted on the whole side of the building and just saw NOKIA 8800/8801 being offered with T Mobile now. At least that's what the ad says.

Do you think Cingular will also offer that phone? How come T Mobile always offers the coolest phones first?

The 8801 is exclusive to T-Mobile now. It is $549.99 with 2 year. If you want at Compusa they sell it unlocked for $599.99. Tiger Direct has it $669.99 unlocked.

actually, VOCE offered it before TMo via MVNO on Cingular.

truth be told, it's a huge pile of dung if you really need a phone that works

I have a feeling it will be just like the RAZR when it first came out. Everyone wants one and pretty soon, everyone will have one and it will just be an ordinary phone...

check the pricing. This will not be an "every one has one" phone

I think he meant when the price goes down like the RAZR's did, which is going to happen eventually with every phone. I dont think it would be as popular as the RAZR was though, not by a long shot.

Cingular rejected this phone, so T-mobile did not beat Cingular to market with it.

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAT! Cingular rejected the Nokia 8800/8801? Any good reason why? And why does Cingular reject it but TMobile carry it?

I have never used it personally, but apparently it failed the field trials. Others on here have said it was a very poor performing phone (maybe IHAP could elaborate for example), it wouldn't be Nokia's first.

You tell me why T-mobile will sell a phone that Cingular decided should not be put on their network.

It was just too expensive for 95% of Cingular's customers.

It's also pretty stripped down.
