for those that don't know...

THere is a collection of info on the V710, E815, V3C, V3M at...

http://mark.cdmaforums.com

While geared towards Verizon phones, MOST of the info is common to Alltel, Bell, Telus, etc...

I'm going to temporarily sticky this thread.

While I don't permit people advertising their personal website, I am vaguely familiar with yours. Since this subsection is new, I think this is a good resource to have marked.

I will unsticky this when I feel the subforum has taken off.

send me a phone

But seriously... The info on my pages is based on phones I have or phones I KNOW work similarly...

Notice I don't have any V265 info? (even though I'm told the same seem edit the V710 uses for MPT works on the V265)... and the V325 info I have was written up/submitted by a V325 user....

I don't have an a840, I haven't seen much discussion, so I can't be sure what works, and what doesn't... I'd have nothing to base any info on...

Why not try searching Howard Forums on a840, and read the threads that you find?

I have a Verizon V3c and also have MPT ver.4.2.1a on my Win XP. Verizon won't let me upload from my computer to my phone. Can I hack the phone to allow uploading to my phone?
Thanks

Why yes. See the MPT link at http://mark.cdmaforums.com as it contains info on this....

PS. when using the SEEM EDIT link at http://mark.cdmaforums.com (WHICH IS NEEDED),

Please READ the entire page carefully.. don't make the mistake of only "skimming"!!!!

You can use the seem edit walk thru as-is... EXCEPT use the following values... SEEM = 2742, Bytes (h) = 0000... the other values in the walk thru and its pictures are fine.... the walk thru and pictures were written back when the V710 came out, and it used a different SEEM and Bytes (h) value than the E815, V3C and V3M...

Um. welcome...

One thing you'll need to understand... there is a LOT of info here... and almost everything has been discussed at least once or twice... So you'll want to SEARCH... (E815 OBEX has been discussed for a long long time... like well over a year...)

also...

Have a look at -> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/

like... the HOW TO's... its a SEEM EDIT... (check the "Popular seem edit" list...)

First you need to know which your wireless carrier sells...

For example, the V3C and V3M are CDMA phones, so you can't get these from GSM Carriers like T-Mobile and Cingular.

The V3, V3i, etc.. are GSM... so Verizon, alltel, etc wont have them...

I read previously about how to apply mp3 as ringtones on RZR. Apparently the same applies to V710. You have to delete 2 files from the system software. My question is - V710 doesn't come with software nor USB connection like RZR. Fow do I do that on that phone? Can I get some more details regarding this issue on V710? I am with Telus.
Thanx.

The same V710 info at http://mark.cdmaforums.com applies to Telus.. also be sure to read the popular seem edits which shows...

seem 041A, bytes (h) 0000, record 1...
Offset 75 Bit 4 - Apply As Ring Tone Menu Option - Check to Disabled, uncheck to Enabled

which is also needed for the Telus V710....

I have a CDMA V3m with Verizon.. Ive enabled Multimedia options in MPTs, and I can transfer files to and from my computer.. My question is Has anyone found a way to enable games, applets, etc. to the phone.. I hear that BREW is untouchable.. However, mine has AppMgr 2.0.4 v1 and BREW ver 3.12.50 if that makes any difference.. I know that skinning will brick my phone, but Ive heard mixed results on banner mods.. Any way to lose date and time displays in my main or external? I understand these phones are fairly new to the modding community.

Brew apps are "signed" and locked to the particular hand set. No one has found away around this... so if you want apps/games on your BREW phone... purchase them... or purchase the brew dev kit, write your app, and pay to have it tested and made available... then convince Verizon to add it to their Get-it-Now catelog...

As for Skinning... The Moto UserInterface (like the E815, or Alltel V3C/V3M use) can use real Skins (i.e. change the entire look/feel of the UI, placement of icons, background colors, etc)... where as the VERIZON UI (like the Verizon V3C/V3M/KRZR K1M use) can not use Skins... however, the people over at HackTheRazr.com have a "Skinning/Themeing" (notice the QUOTES!!) guide... which can at least change some aspects of your phone see -> http://hacktherazr.com/guide.v3c.v3m.skin.html

As for removing the date/time from the displays... Nope... If your phone used the Moto UI, you could for the inside display, as this can be accomplished with Skins... but with the Verizon UI, you can NOT, due to not being able to use regular or True skins.

Im a n00b to this modding thing, and Ive searched far and wide to answer this particular problem, (btw Venture, Ive read lots of your stuff, you rock) including your stuff also, but I cant load my last seem edits from my phone.. Ive confirmed that everything is working correctly, and I mEAN EVRYTHING, but p2kseemeditor shuts down automatically after attempting to load the last seems from my phone.. I might be overlooking something in the guides, but I keep seeing the same stuff I read 3 times over in the guides.. I also believe that I've read some methods on changing my current UI to the Moto.. My current SW version is NEWC_01.05.0A Are there any updated versions of FW I could flash to, so I may make more modding options available?? And if so, what are the available options? CorrectioN! I found a monster pack by RyRy but I dont know whats in it..

The most common issues for this... in no particular order...

1. bad copy of P2KSeem for V710... redownload from -> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/Files/P2KSeem4V710.zip
2. Wrong values for Seem number, bytes (h), or record field used.
3. PST or MSU not running in the back ground to get the phone into the proper mode.

For firmware versions See -> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/V3M_Firmware.htm

The only way to get rid of the VZW UI, and get the Moto UI is flash with the firmware from another carrier... its not a simple task... and takes a lot of DETAILED WORK... miss a step.. and your phone wont work for data, and you'll have to start back at the beginning (on the Verizon firmware)...

For more info... look for the threads discussing the ALLTEL MONSTER Firmwares...

like -> http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1090965

I read.. Its pretty ballsy.. It requires working in a volatile and treacherous environment.. I'll pass for now.. Until I get a new phone.. You had posted that its possible to change my carrier banner so long as I dont remove the V or the last s.. Does that still apply? Also, what about Outer LCD display? Do you mean to say I can change it to a wallpaper? Sorry to go over and rehash these topics. But I prefer hearing this from the source.. Although I do realize this is done at my own risk..

Hi,
I'm a complete novice and wondering exactly how I can hack the 710 to enable jave. Hoping to be able to use gmail email app for mobile.

I "think" i've downloaded (thanks to you) what I need but there seems to be no instruction on how to proceed.

I will order the verizon data kit if that is what is needed also.

Thanks,

Phil

The only way to do this... flash your V710 with Telus firmware and that opens a new can of worms because you are no longer running the Verizon firmware...

read about it, and what is necessary at -> http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=637284

Mark.

Thanks for all your work. I was just curious how you like your LG enV (vx9900). I'm debating to get that or the KRZR K1m. Any opinions? I'm on Verizon, and would probably use the mp3 feature on my phone the most.

Thanks in advance.

I used a K1m for all of about 5 min... so I can't really compare the two...

As for the enV.. Other than its over all size/weight... and the VZW menu system.. Its not a bad phone... But since I don't do texting much, and my E815's battery lasts longer... I'm sticking with my E815.

Um, you mean like the discussion of using the pre-pay Verizon Impluse V3Cpp sold by Wal-Mart as the phone on your "normal" post-paid account?? as discussed -> http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1044399

Yeah, basically, flash your phone with one of the Leaked Verizon V3C firmwares from -> http://humpa.com/vzw using the process at -> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/HowToFlash.htm so it has all the features of a "post paid" V3C.

Make the ESN of the V3Cpp active on your account (use vzw's web site), then do a *228 opt 1, and optionally *228 opt 2.

how do u flash

While my E815 is still my fav and mostly used phone (still the leader of Battery and reception).. I do switch between all of the phones I have except the Q9M (don't want to carry something that big when I have a Blackberry on my hip at work).. and the Chocolate and U740 due to reception...

I added an AMP'd Hollywood (E816), but its no different than the E815...

VCC just sent me a Juke on Wednesday... so its active on my line... but I'll be going back to the E815 tonight or tomorrow...

I like my E815, enV and U620...

No the phone itself must be registered with bell to be used on their network. Call them and say you have a old phone from verizon and wish to register the number on bel they will port it.

Mark, I got my V710 almost 3yrs back and thanks to you and Humpa, got it modded to meet my needs (man, how the sites have grown since then). I've swapped it out many times and can usually get it back to where I like in under an hour. My new every 2 w/ Verizon is long overdue, but I haven't seen anything new that impressed me, and haven't wanted to lose the functions I have, but now I have to get a new phone. The charging issues w/ this 710 are beyond servicing, and they say they don't even have any more of that style chargers to swap and no longer service the 710, they just swap w/ a newer model.
Your opinion would mean alot to me, especially as to what phone you see as being most 'modder friendly'. I'm thinking about the new Razr 2, or Maxx V3, which I think is actually the older version of the Razr 2, but the new Samsung flipshot looks cool as well. I'm just not familiar w/ trying to mod a Samsung. I wouldn't be against a MotoQ, except I can't afford to add a data plan and seems like its sorta useless w/out it(unless there's a way around that).
As far as to the mods that are important to me, editing the web server and using mobile phone tools for transfer and conecting my notebook are great, but the one I don't want to due w/out is editing the pic server. I have 2 humpa_mms scripts running (one at tkocentral.com/mms) and being able to use them is something I hate to lose.
I've been scouring the sites for days and the pic server doesn't seem like a very important edit to most and I could care less about games and external graphics. The music player functions are sorta cool, but with a 4gig limit, I don't for see using it constantly. Video recording in mpeg rather than 3g2 is a nice change to see. Do you know anything about the new Samsungs or if the pic server is editable on the Razr 2 or the V3, or any phones that might be preferrable?
What do you like, or what would be your choice?
Thanks

Maxx V3? No, for verizon it would be Maxx Ve...

As for Maxx Ve being "older version" of the Razr2.. that is debateable..

yes, the Maxx VE came out first, has the older "RED UI" (similar to the V3C/V3M/K1M), but it has autofocus and flash for the camera along with slightly better battrey life (size of phone allows for the Maxx VE to have higher capacity battery)...

Unless you are going for "SIZE"... go with the Z6tv... most of the same V9M hacks we found work on the Z6tv... The Z6tv has a bigger battery and all the same features.

The Maxx Ve is ok, but not as "hackable"... being a VZW exclusive, hurts "cross flashing" as well.

Then again, the Maxx Ve, V9M and Z6tv have BT OBEX FTP for sounds, pictures and video. The work arounds for MPT work without seem edits. Alt proxy server works. But I haven't tried Humpa's MMS server....

I can't comment on the Samsung Flipshot... I haven't touched it...

Thanks Mark,
After much deliberation, I've decided to go w/ the Flipshot. I had to stop driving myself nuts with which phone I could alter the most and just ask myself which phone I really like.
I don't really care for any of the Razr style keypads, too thin for my big hands and I want to feel butttons when I'm on the pike doing 80 dialing a call.
The only problem I forsee is that the tech-savy folks like you that light the way for the less bright people like me seem to stick mostly to the motos for the web info on modding. The most I could find on the Samsungs was on your site. But, it looks like getting the features I need like editing the wap and pic serveer and file transfers was pretty simple on the older models and probably just as achievable on the Flipshot.
Know any good Samsung resources?
What I've found on HF so far seems like people are still trying to figure out how to write mp3 tones, not alot of advanced modding.

HA. Intimidating, but not difficult. I just loaded the carrier banner seem record in P2k seem editor... Starting typing out " Hyper Threaded" at the "V" and did not type past the last "s".. wrote seem to phone, and there ya go.

I learned that the "flashing" part of the process is easy. Its the end results that are where the most difficult issues are at.. UNLESS there is a sufficient backup of the NAM, ERI,PRL, and service programming. Yup. I went in there skimming the posts, flashed my phone, and lost data services. So the backups done are crucial. After restoring them, everything works, and best of all, there's TRUE skinning!

If you want to flash with the BELL firmware and use it on the BELL network... In most cases... YES.. so long as the VZW boot loader on your phone is compatible with the Bell firmware you are trying to flash...

Now, if you wanted to use the BELL firmware on VZW's network.. that would be different

Hello, evrebody.
I have recently bought V3m and began to search for how to enable Java. On my E815 it worked exelent, however I can't find information on v3m. Little google, I have found information that possible to flash on V3c Tellus, and java will work, but will not be T-Flash. (first flashing on Alltel v3m monster, then Telus upgrade for v3c).
So, can it possible to edit seems and upload file mma_ucp and enable T-Flash?

PS Sorry for my English, i don't know it very good because i'm from Russia.

I have an E815 that I got as a hand me down from my sister...

Almost Everything about this phone is great, but there is a few small problems that really bug me.

Biggest, and most annoying problem...
The phone likes to decide that it randomly wants to get no service.. But not literally no service.. That annoying no service, where it says you have about .5 of a bar, but you can't text or anything...

When I turn my phone off and back on, it gets as much service as it can (usually full around my town) and then it will go back down to about .5 of a bar.

Things I've tried to fix it...
1. Bought a new battery, the current battery lasts about 8 hours of idling and sending about 100 texts a day... So I needed a new one anyway, so I bought a 14xx mAh one which is almost double the standard size.

Would the new battery help my phone get service?

2. Dialed *228 and programmed my phone, and "updated my roaming capabilities"

My next problem, is I can't turn off that Annoying low battery beep...

Someone else mentioned I'd have to seem edit my phone, but I really don't feel like buying a cable to hook my phone up to my PC, plus seem editing worries me.

And Last and Least... Every now and then, maybe once a day, my phone will freeze up for about 10 seconds, the screen gets really bright, then turns black for a few seconds, then everything goes back to normal... Any thoughts?

That's all

Forgot to ask. Does that mean if I bluetooth it to my phone I could set it as a ringer? Or do I have to use bitpim?

Definately NOT normal.

sounds like your phone has problems. possible moisture, or drop damage... but definately NOT a 100% normal operation.

For the ALLTEL V3C and V3M... yes, bluetooth OBEX FTP works fine and you can use that to put ring tones on to your phone's memory, assuming your PC is bluetooth equipped and has the right drivers.

To be honest, I haven't kept up on it, but I don't recall seeing a TELUS or BELL V3M monster leaked..

You might want to seach the Verizon/Moto section to see...

Plus, even if one was leaked, depending on your carrier, the process to get it working mgiht be slightly diffrent that what Verizon users do...

It seems they did not sell such phones. There are no opportunities more? Is it possible to enable memory card on v3c Bell monster?
It is better to buy likely K1m. Who knows about this phone? Speak, it easily breaks.

PS, Mark, There are no problems work on my carrier. It works with all phones. (Verizon, Sprint, Bell, Tellus, Phelephone and other)

I said that a copy of their firmware wasn't leaked. (Please read Items 31 & 32 on -> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/FAQ.htm )

A good list of those firmwares that have been leaked can be found at -> http://bushe102.googlepages.com/Moto_flash.htm

No, its not possible to enable MicroSD card slot support on V3C firmware, as that support is not present in the firmware in the first place.

Actually... You're carrier may allow the phones' ESN numbers to be active, BUT I doubt they will work for anything except for Voice and Text unless YOU do some serious hacking. Each wireless carrier has their server and data authetication schemes embedded in their firmware. Because of this, its nearly impossible to get another carrier's firmware working UNLESS Someone DOES SOME SERIOUS HACKING first...

Because of boot loader incompatibilites across firmware versions (which can result in a bricked phone), and that in most cases, your wireless carrier stores usually have access only to upgrade versions of their firmware, Wireless carriers are reluctant to flash another carrier's phone to their firmware.

Thanks for the answer. I wished to tell that was not present on their site (Bell and Telus) any information on this phone.

But, Mark, my carrier really works with any phones. Calls, SMS, MMS, WAP, EVDO works. The tools, such as V-Cast, are not present on my carrier, so they will not work.

Our carrier has no own firmware at all, it buys phones from manufacturers with stock firmware or from other operators (Usually Sprint and Amp'd). So, after flashing, i just write saved files (PRL and othe maded with Motorola PST) in phone and all again works. And i don't need to do backup any seems or something more.

In any case, thanks for the answer.

PS My carrier is JSC Interdnestrcom.
