I guess it does come out to what you need a pda phone for. Overall functionality, i think the treo is better. the 700p is faster, and allows you to do more stuff, like edit word, excel docs. The Q only allows you to view, If you're merely using it for calls and entering in calendar and tasks, the Q may be just fine for you, since it's thinner, but I personally got tired of the non-touch screen because you can't go directly to where you need in a jiffy, everything needs to be scrolled to, selected repeatedly. I just got my 700p and I like it alot, though I would imagine it could be better if the os was upgraded, or it could receive data, (emails) while during a call, which the 700p can't but that's alright.
I get a warning and then get the email and it works fine.

I just don't understand how HTC could manufacturer a good phone like the 650 and 700 then manufacturer a crappy phone(RF wise) like the PPC-6700.

I believe Palm designed the Treos and HTC manufactures them, but I could be wrong there.

HTC has the CDMA license to manufacturer the phone half(RF) of the devices. I believe Palm controls things like design and layout.
