If you like the Razr wait for the V3i to hit the stores soon. Other than that I can't say much because I am not impressed with any of those phones.

i was thinking of the slvr but i text alot and people have told me that the keys on the slvr are too tiny. also there isnt a good motorola oem case or holster is there? thanks...

I would also have to say wait for the V3i. A few of my friends got the slvr and have had nothing but problems with it and yeah the keys are a bit small if you do alot of texting. I had the V3i for a while and it was a really good phone. And considering your "has to be a motorola phone" policy i think you will disappointed with any thing less than the V3i.

FWIW, I absolutely luv my Cingular branded SLVR and have had no problems with it. (I do prefer the candybar style over flip so I have a bit of a bias there, but I've owned several phones in both form factors over the years).

I would agree that you may have problems with the tiny keys if you do lots of texting. I text every so often and have no problems, but I could imagine getting frustrated with the small keys if I were texting a lot.

Otherwise, I really like this phone. The form factor, the reception, the style and look, iTunes (which I cracked so I can have up to 1000 songs on it). I even bought one of the red SLVR housings and swapped it out with the default black one and it looks sweet!

Things I don't like about the SLVR: no EDGE support (not a prob for you since you said you don't use the Net on your phone), default max volume output of earpiece is to low (I hacked my gain table and increased it a little, but I wish it could go louder still), no A2DP support and...um...I guess that's about it.

I had 2 RAZRs from Cingular as well, and both of them had the notorious buzzing earpiece problem, so I ditched the RAZR and got a SE Z520i unlocked. Really liked that phone, but couldn't resist the SLVR when it came out. I was hesitant to get another Moto from the RAZR family, given my experience with the RAZR, but decided to try "one more time" and have had zero problems with this phone and absolutely love it!

Given all the customization I've done to mine and how well it's worked for me, I'm gonna be hard pressed to give this phone up for another any time soon, but I hafta say the idea of a slider version of the SLVR sounds awesome! That would make this phone even more jeans-front-pocket-friendly!!

My .02 cents. Good luck with your decision!

ok...just so you know...i text around 3000 texts a month with my slvr...and yes the keypad is small but you do get used to it....once i got used to it....it is now hard for me to use larger kepad.....so dont throw out this great phone just because it has a smaller keypad.....like ranphi says...you can customize the crap outa the slvr......

Take the SLVR, sell it on eBay for about 200 and then fork over another 50 (out of pocket) to buy an unlocked V3i.

Best of both worlds - form factor of the Razr you're used to plus all the extras the SLVR has.
